Chapter 4
For several days after, Belle and I spent a lot of time together, teaching each other how to make the other feel wonderful. It wasn’t all ‘crazy sex’ because a lot of what we did was take the time to focus on pleasing. Touching, kissing, stroking. I had not yet broached the topic of oral pleasure because I wasn’t sure how Belle would react, and to be honest, I was a little concerned for myself, based on the shape of her mouth and all those sharp teeth in there.
We walked for miles in the state forest areas. Sometimes she kept to full canine form, other times as a hybrid. Where we were, and the possible risk of meeting someone, was usually the deciding factor.
Except for the one brief time, I hadn’t seen her in human form again.
I found her sitting on the porch one afternoon, looking off to the distance. I sat beside her, put an arm around her, and pulled her against my side.
“I would have your pups, if I could,” she sighed.
“I know,” I answered. “And we would have raised them with lots of love and care. Just not sure if we would take them to a pediatrician or a veterinarian for any medical needs.”
My attempt at humor fell flat.
“Sad,” she sighed. “My heat is ending. Soon no more wonderful mating. At least not until next cycle.”
“So why does the mating have to stop? Just because your heat is finished, that doesn’t mean we still can’t make love. Humans do that all the time. Not just when the women are fertile.”
“Oh? So we could...?”
“I see no reason not to stop,” I smiled. “Belle, when we are together, that is a physical manifestation of how much I love you. I see no reason for us to deny the joy and pleasure it brings.”
She hopped into my lap, licking my face as happy tears shimmered in her eyes. I responded with kisses and licks of my own.
I had mixed emotions on the day that my daughters and their children showed up. I was happy to see them, but in the back of my mind were suspicions of an ulterior motive. They had flown into the Reno airport, since it was less than an hour from my home, instead of Sacramento which was several hours drive. The girls had rented a minivan and drove out to my place.
“I will miss being my normal self while they are here,” Belle commented. “But it is not for that long and I will manage.”
“You know that when everyone goes to bed, you just come to our room and relax. Be your normal self there while we rest.”
“We shall see.” Her ears perked up and her head turned. “I hear someone driving up to the entrance by the road.” Suddenly she was her canine self.
The minivan pulled to a stop and before either of my daughters could get out, the side door opened and my four year old grandson exploded from inside. “GRANDPA!” he screamed running towards me. I picked up the excited child and gave him a hug. He was your typical brown haired grubby kid. No matter what you did, he always looked rumpled with a few smudges on his face.
“Hey Curtis! Did you have a fun airplane ride?” I saw my two granddaughters coming towards me at a slower pace, along with my daughters.
“It was great! I saw clouds from the windows and when we was taking off I saw all the houses and cars were small and looked like toys!”
“Wonderful!” I looked over at my twin granddaughters, Charlotte and Natalie. They were six and mini clones of their mother. Brown curly hair styled just so, and wearing what was probably the latest fashion trend that parents over-paid for. “How about a hug for grandpa?” They reluctantly came forward and the hugs were perfunctory. Made me wonder what propaganda was being told.
I smiled at my daughters, Deborah (35) and Rachael (32). “It’s good to see you again.” Brief hugs and a kiss on the cheek.
“A doggie! You have a doggie!” the boy screamed and ran towards Belle who was sitting on the porch, watching.
“Curtis! Stop!” screamed his mother. Rachael grabbed his hand and yanked him backwards. “It might bite you!”
“Your mother is right, buddy. If you don’t know the dog, never run to it. It might be friendly, it might not. You don’t know.” I led my three grandchildren to the porch. “This is Belle. I adopted her a few months ago. She is friendly, but try not to make loud noises or fast movements near her.”
“If she has puppies, can we have one?”
“Well, I think that is something to talk with your parents about. Puppies are a big responsibility.” Turning to face the girls, I silently mouthed “Fixed,” to relieve the concerns in their eyes.
We trooped inside and brought in the luggage. My daughters would share the queen bed in the spare bedroom and the kids would crash on the sleeper sofa in the living room. A little snug, but we managed.
After dinner, the adults sat on the porch, relaxing, and watched the kids run around and chase lightning bugs. Belle alternated between sitting on the porch and running in the grass with the children. She let out happy barks as they all zoomed back and forth.
“I remember you girls doing that when you were little,” I smiled, as a slight wave of nostalgia came over me.
“That’s because we were young and didn’t know any better.”
I turned to Rachael. “What?”
“Come on, Dad! We were young, and this was pretty much all we knew. You’re out here in the middle of nowhere, nothing going on. As kids we had to always be looking for stuff to do and keep us occupied. In the city, we have everything we want and need. You know that is one of the reasons Mom left, right? She is remarried now, living in New York, and loving it.”
