Chapter 6: Six Months Later

There have been some major changes in our life in the last few months.

First let’s talk about Rhonda. Remember how Becky had told me that Rhonda was lonely? That changed about two months after her last visit. She met another woman! The lady is a widow and uses the same gym as Rhonda. One day they started talking and one thing led to another, they fell in love!

She believes this woman to be her soulmate and they plan on getting married! She told Becky the Florida vacations would have to stop. This new love of hers would not share her! Becky wished her well and asked for an invitation to the wedding. So far, we have not gotten our invitation!

Now about Bobby---

Bobby stopped over at the house a couple times a week. At first, he was different. It was like he was timid or shy. Like he was ashamed of what had happened that night with the girls. The second time he came over I told him I knew, and I was okay with it. I told him I was glad he enjoyed himself. He thanked me!

It was about a month later, Becky and I were coming home from having lunch at our favorite B-B-Que restaurant, Boss Hog, that we saw an ambulance pulling away as we drove up.

I approached the small crowd that had gathered in front of his house and was told his daughter had found him ‘un-responsive’. She called the ambulance.

Two days later I heard he had died!

We went to the service at the local funeral home. He had been cremated so there were pictures of him with his wife when he was younger and before he had gotten sick. He looked happy.

We met his daughter, but just briefly. We expressed our sorrow for her loss. We listened to a eulogy by an old friend of his, then left.

A month later we noticed activity at Bobby’s house. There was a Goodwill truck out front, and men were hauling things out. His daughter was there supervising so we decided to walk over and say hello. We imagined she was putting the house up for sale.
