Chapter 40

Polo

Alright everybody
Just calm the fuk down

“There is nothing wrong here.
Now,
What do you Want to do?”

It’s a Choice my friends
&
I Choose Happinesses

“This too shall pass”

Where do we go from here?
We GROW from here.

We Grow fastest through Adversity
But
I Pray for Slow Growth

We need to start Listening again,
w/o Blaring an Air-Horn in our adversaries face.

We should start Respecting each other again,
but did we ever?

Stop focusing on our Differences,
&
See the Common Ground we CAN agree on.

That was one of Jesus’ gifts,
He found one thing he & his adversaries could agree on,
Then he highlighted that,
& Soon their differences were lessened.

America,
Stop acting like little kids in a playground
Forcing everyone to Think like you
or Putting your Hands over your Ears
When someone says something you don’t like

Start acting like Adults

Adults get things done

Adults see the Big Picture &
Don’t focus on 1 or 2 Subjects, over & over

Life ain’t that easy, Folks
We have to be Balanced
&
See all sides of any argument or subject
As much as possible
without becoming fixated on any small part of it

If it ain’t working
Let’s all Get together
&
Fix It

Don’t stay entrenched in the old way of thinking
It wasn’t always better in the past

We have grown as a Society
We don’t have Slavery anymore
But we still have the f/u vestiges of it

Another thing Jesus showed us,
was to try to understand our Neighbor’s
Motives

If we could see it from their point of view
We often relax

Most of us fear the Unknown
Always fearing the Worst
instead of having Faith things will work out

It may seem that Urantia is falling apart
But look around

Most of us are living pretty good lives
w/o starving or constantly being Shot at

Sure there are examples to the contrary

But I see things as 1/2 Full

Stop whining about what you don’t have
&
See the glory of our Planet

Try to work together
w/o becoming Polarized

It’s the Moderates on all sides
That will Save us

Unfortunately, they get shot down by their own Radical Base.

I’ve heard it said, that the Crazies on
The Left, are 10% of them.

On the Right, it’s more like 35%.

But Crazy is Crazy

Fuk the Radicals, the Crazies, the ones who are the Doomsdayers.

America has become a bunch of Lemmings, on both sides.
Actually, Lemmingdom is on all sides.

We are being Lied to, Pandered to,
by the Extremes,
On all sides.

Having said that, I believe there are plenty of People
who are trying to do the right thing,
But they are constantly hampered by their own side,
as often as by the other side.

As I’ve said,

“This too shall pass”

We WILL get through this,
But I’m not listening to either side’s Crazies,
Only their Moderates.

I’ve heard it said, that if I someone is really upset about Someone or Something,
Chances are, they are trying to Control them
Even though they are out of that person’s Control

I Let Go
&
I Let God

I also try to remember the Serenity Prayer

“God, grant me the Serenity to Accept the things I cannot change,
the Courage to Change the things I can,
&
the Wisdom to know the difference.”

Wisdom is the key

The URANTIA Book tells us, that Wisdom was the last part of the puzzle, going from pure Animals, into a Human, a Mortal, who Knows that he or she Knows something. All Animals just Know, they don’t have that part of their Minds to go beyond that.

Wisdom is all important
As that ability to Know we are separate from each other,
Allows us to have Relationships
& the ultimate Relationship
Is between our Minds & the Part of God that is within all of us
Our Thought Adjuster

My Dad used to say

“When We do our best
God does the rest”

Paul Simon, Neil Diamond & Donavan, Day 1 of 6 @ Radio City Music Hall, NYC, 8pm.

This was Paul Simon’s 1st Tour w/o Art Garfunkel. They had Broken-Up, after their last Record was Released in Jan, 1970, Bridge Over Troubled Water. He felt 100% lighter, w/o Garfunkel dragging him down. He would soon be super Creative again. Sad, but true.

Paul gave us permission to use his Songs in our Ads, as he was ready to move on from his time with Art, & he thought by using his Songs in our Ads, would be Closure. He also loved the fact, that we always used the Entire Song, w/o butchering it, by chopping it up.

Regular Season, Game 138, vs Cleveland Indians. We Won 4-1.

Paul Simon, Neil Diamond & Donavan, Day 6 of 6 @ Radio City Music Hall, NYC, 8pm. (Live at Radio City, Broadcast Live, CBS-TV, 9-11pm)

1. Intro, Martin Scorsese was back with his next Music Video, this time using Paul Simon’s Bridge Over Troubled Water, 4:54, our longest Ad to date. It worked out, as we just started the Show after it. Martin chose the Porsche 914, to Film Driving amongst the Bridges in NYC. The Golden Gate & Galloping Gertie, he used stock Footage of, w/o our Car. It was great, as Martin really captured the Bridges just right, in the right Light & Perspective. Gertie, at the end of the Ad was great, as you could hear the gasps in the crowd, watching the destruction of such a massive object. We showed the Ads to the Crowd in Radio City, , & the Crowd loved our new ads, still wondering who the Ads were for, or who C-4 was.

1. Intero, Francis Ford Coppola used Bob Seger’s Mongrel again, 2:28, Filming a Mercedes Benz 280 3.5 Cabriolet. He Drove it past all our Buildings & Hotels in NYC, then through Central Park, which I loved.

1. Outro, Garry Marshall got in the mix, using the Beach Boys’, Fun, Fun, Fun, 2:21, featuring a Packard Hawk. We had decided to add a Retro 1958 Packard Hawk to our 1971 Models. For this Music Video, Garry included a T-Bird, a Ford Thunderbird. He used the Thunderbird theme in the Song, Filming a T-Bird & a 1958 Packard Hawk, that had been completed, but never Sold. He had them Drive along the East Side of Lake Tahoe, looking down on the Lake from up high, ending up at our Thunderbird Lodge. It was really beautiful, & meaningful to me, as I loved Lake Tahoe & Thunderbird Lodge. He ended the Ad, with the Thunderbird Yacht, roaring away from the Dock, laying down a long Rooster-Tail, from its Twin powerful Motors. Class, utter class.

Mon, Sep 7, 1970

Regular Season, Game 139, at Washington Senators-Gen 2. (Nite) We Won 4-3.

Today we took Control of a fantastic 1,481 Acre piece of Paradise in the Round Hills of Greenwich, CT. It was Conyers Farm, that had been left to rot, by its current owner, who had owned it since 1936.

In Ralf’s time, it would finally be resurrected in 1980, but I wanted to bring it back to life now, in 1970.

Ralph Lauren & his wife, Ricky, were with us, as I was going to ask them, if they wanted to live there. They could renovate the old Mansion, the Edmund C Converse Home. They loved it, as it was built in 1904. They could see the potential, even though there were Sagging Roofs, Broken Windows, etc. It was going to take some Renovation, but we were putting it in a Trust Fund Baby, to Save it forever, fo sho.

Conyers Farm, was actually 20 separate Farms that Converse had brought together as 1 Farm. That was why it was so easily broken up later, in Ralf’s time, but I was going to keep it intact. Conyers is the Olde English spelling of Converse.

In 1980, it was the largest single Block of land, closest to NYC, so it was the same in 1970. Why break up such an important Property? We didn’t need it to make a Buck, we wanted to Save & Restore & Use it!
