Chapter 33

They thought about that. For about a second.

George said, “It’s the marina’s problem ... it’s not parked here.”

“Do they know...?”

That was directed at Alice and she didn’t know.

“Geeze guys, I don’t know. The car belongs to the Embassy.”

Right away, Charles wondered, “Does the driver have to sign for it?”

“Probably,” George said. “I did during the war.” He turned to Alice, “Did the driver go along?”

“I Think so ... but I’m not sure. I didn’t see him. Oh ... wait. No ... the regular crew didn’t go.”

And we all turned to look at her.

The cook/housekeeper, Agnetha, said, “Alice ... you can’t be here ... you’re dead. Witnesses.”

“Shit!”

“Well?”

As we watched, Alice morphed. Street urchin ... homeless ... hired to replace Alice ... runaway. Alice was 5’4” ... Gwendolyn is Almost 6’3”. Ok ok ok ... Gwen is six foot two and seven eighths inches tall ... hair not included ... nude she is 154 pounds.

During the police investigation she was remembered by 40 or so people as a regular denizen of the park. Taxi drivers remember her hitchhiking on 5th Avenue. Several police officers recall questioning her in the park. A social worker is positive she placed her in the home. Alice was a 16 year old ‘local’... 19 year old Gwen is from Ellensburg Washington and an acquaintance of the twins. Her expired Washington drivers license checked out.

I don’t know how they do that.

“We,” said mother. “WE do that.”

Oh yeah.

Mom looks like ... and has ID that says she is ... my older sister.

Jackie has magic, generally fatal, hands.

George was inventing stuff during the civil war. Alice found Sigmund on the beach during WW2 ... and that’s all I know.
