Chapter 1

Entering a new school is always scary, and it gets no easier when you’ve changed schools twice in one year. Eddie only stayed two months at the last school, hardly getting to know any of the boys or girls in his class. His body had catapulted him into puberty, and he’d begun sprouting pubic hair at eleven. Now, at 15, he had a thick bush. Probably the worst part of puberty, for Eddie, were the frequent, surprise erections he got. He didn’t have to think about anything in particular to get one. However, Miss Hunsaker, one of his teachers at Madison Junior High, was so pretty he couldn’t concentrate on his schoolwork, and would be in a constant state of

tumescence around her. Even worse: she knew about it and tried hard to get him in front of the class, to embarrass him. It was good he wasn’t there long. Now, two months after turning fifteen, he was starting again, in a new school. Eddie and his mom had moved from the home he’d been raised in, so she could live more frugally, since she was the only bread winner, with the addition of a small amount of child support from her marriage to Eddies’ dad. The reason for the additional move was so there would be an extra bedroom for any of his sisters who should happen to need one. His sister Doris was doing okay, but his sister, Paula was not stable in her marriage yet. His sister, Beth, was still at an aunts’ place, but who knew for how long. So, now he was enrolled at his new school, Columbus Junior High.

After his mother had enrolled him, she had to get to work, so the Assistant Principal took him to his first class, his homeroom. Opening the door to the classroom, and making sure she was not disturbing anything, Eddie was ushered in and across the front of the room, to the teacher’s desk. Eddie felt all eyes on him, although the class had been assigned silent reading.

“Miss Hansen, this is Edward Nolan. He is new to Columbus, and this will be his homeroom.”
