Monday, June 14, 2032 – NovaCare Complex, Philadelphia, PA

Ninety Eagles showed up Monday morning for the mandatory mini-camp. While the previous OTAs were not mandatory, nearly all players made nearly every workout. Kyle was pleased to see the dedication of his players.

Monday was focused on medical testing. The team needed a baseline medical for every player, so they were prepared to monitor the player’s health and fitness throughout the season.

The next three days the team worked out on the field twice a day. They spent an hour and a half in the mornings with knee, thigh and elbow pads, along with helmets on as they practiced seven-on-seven or eleven-on eleven. No hitting was allowed. The QBs wore their red, do-not-hit-me jerseys. They spent time with the coaches after lunch studying video from the morning practice.

The hour and a half long afternoon practice was a walk-through, without pads or helmets. The players ran the plays at half speed, while they made sure everyone knew their part in each play. It was important mentally to understand their part and their teammates’ parts in each play. So much depended on everyone reading the players across the line of scrimmage and modifying their route, blocking, pass rush or coverage to what their opponents were doing. Few plays, offensive or defensive, in the Eagles playbook was static. Everything depended on reacting to what the opposition was doing.

Kyle and Coach C were pleased with their offensive and defensive units. They seemed to be coalescing as teams, rather than a collection of individuals. Hopefully by the time training camp was finished, the Eagles would be a close-knit team.

Thursday afternoon at the conclusion of practice, Kyle called the full team together on the middle of the field. “Thank you for your efforts over the past two months,” Kyle stated. “When you are building something, laying a good foundation is critical if you want that something to last. I believe we have started a good foundation for an excellent football team. You have five weeks free before we reconvene up at Lehigh University for training camp.

“Go reconnect with your family, girlfriend or wife. Enjoy the time off, relax and clear your head. Still, remember to continue your workouts. You will need to be physically ready for the season. Rookies, I will see you guys on July 26th. The rest of you, come prepared to work your asses off on July 29th. Team ... DISMISSED.”

Thursday, June 17, 2032 – Stanford University, Stanford, CA

Dan and Sharon Martin flew out Stanford to see their son Hunter receive his baccalaureate degree. This day was a long time coming, twenty-seven years after their oldest son Will completed his first degree. Dan and Sharon helped Hunter celebrate his achievement and to pack his things for shipment back to Lancaster County. The three spent Friday getting everything ready for the move. Hunter received his degree on Saturday morning.

With a quick celebratory lunch, Dan and Sharon put Hunter on a plan to Omaha, Nebraska. The U.S. Olympic Swim Team trials started that day, though the first day was devoted to women’s events. Hunter wouldn’t be participating in the trials until Sunday. Dan and Sharon flew home on Sunday, after wishing their youngest the best.

Hunter felt he had an excellent shot at making the team and going to Brisbane in July for the Olympics. He had placed second nationally in the backstroke and was in the top four in the breaststroke and 100m freestyle. Time would tell. The finals would conclude on June 27th.

Saturday, June 17, 2032 – Caledonia State Park, Fayetteville, PA

The group of three minivans headed up Route 41 to Gap, Route 30 to Lancaster and then up I-283 to Harrisburg. They took I-83 south through Harrisburg, I-581 to I-81 South. The group turned off after Carlisle at the exit that led to Pine Grove Furnace State Park. David’s minivan was left there to haul Kyle and Matt back to their cars Sunday afternoon. About thirty minutes later they checked in at Caledonia State Park and were sent south of Route 30 to the trail hikers’ parking area.

David was an efficient taskmaster and had his crew ready in about five minutes. “anyONE Not reaDY?” Ben called out. After silence, David commanded, “Hike on!”

The crew carefully crossed the busy Route 30, clambered down a bank to the grassy area and headed across the park’s grassy field until they found white blazes for the Appalachian Trail. They followed them through the park, across a parking lot until the blazes led them to the woods. They followed the trail up the hill into the trees.

Things got real now. Their map study told them they had three and a half miles of climbing to` the top of South Mountain. It was a 1,200-foot climb but wasn’t too difficult. In Kyle’s judgement, the crew hiked well at a good and fairly fast pace. The hiking was not steep, so they did not need to resort to the caterpillar. They crew took a break when they reached the Quarry Gap Shelter, about two-thirds of the way up the mountain.

The Quarry Gap Shelter was not the usual three-sided Adirondack-style lean-to. It was two three-sided cabins with open fourth sides facing each other. A roof connected the open sides, providing a porch between the two shelters.

“Make sure you fill up your water bottles while you are here,” David announced to the group. “We have six miles of hiking on top of the mountain before our next water source. Despite this fine weather, we need to stay hydrated.”

The crew lucked out with weather for their hike. The thermometer reported it was 66 degrees when they left home in the morning. Ben’s zipper thermometer reported it was 73 degrees when they stopped for their break.

The group hiked on twenty minutes later with full Nalgenes. The group reached the top of south mountain about forty minutes later. The group had lunch at the top of the mountain. They hiked on after lunch, staying near the top of the mountain most of the afternoon. Around 2:30 PM, they hiked downhill off the mountain, reaching a small cabin tucked into a glen by a rushing, mountain stream.

There was no bridge or other crossing point, so the crew tested the waterproofing of their boots. Everyone’s boots passed the test. They crossed a dirt road and headed up a steep hill. The group used the caterpillar technique for the first time. The climb was only a quarter mile, but the technique made the climb relatively easy. A little over half an hour later, the crew pulled into Birch Run Shelter. This shelter was the traditional Adirondack style lean-to. The crew setup camp across the trail from the lean-to.

“That was a good pace today,” Kyle commented to Penny and Matt as the kids got camp set up. “We averaged almost three miles an hour on that last stretch.”

“That is impressive,” Matt agreed, smiling.

“I think our kids are ready for the Ranch,” Penny added. “Tomorrow’s hike is ten miles but doesn’t have any big hills. It shouldn’t be too hard.”

“We should be good to go when this gets real in ten days,” Kyle added.

The group moved into dinner preparations as soon as camp was set up. Jessie and Kaylie had outdone themselves with supper. Last week they prepared two trays of lasagna. When the pasta dish cooled, they chopped it into small pieces and dehydrated the food overnight. Reconstituting the lasagna was easy that evening. Once the pot of water boiled, they scooped out enough water to cover the pasta in the freezer Zip-Loc bag. Ten minutes later the crew was eating a delicious dinner.

After cleanup, the crew scattered. David and Sara wanted some private time. So did Kaylie and Logan. Jordan and Ben went down to the creek to goof around. Jackson, Colton and Jessie were the only ones left in the campsite.

“Are you and Adam going to stay a couple when he goes to college in the fall?” Jackson asked, out of the blue.

“A couple? Me and Adam?” Jessie gasped. “No, we’re not a couple.”

“You’re not?” Jackson said, clearly surprised at the news. “You and Adam went to the prom together. You’re not with him?”

“Adam Morrison and I have never been a couple,” Jessie replied. “We dated a few times a year ago. I was Adam’s emergency fill-in date when he broke up with his girlfriend a few days before the prom.”

“Uh ... Jessie ... maybe,” Colton said, but hesitating. That was not his best move.

“Jessie, would you like to go to the movies with me,” Jackson said quickly before Colton had time to finish his statement. Colton glared at his friend.

“Obviously, the date would be after we get back from Philmont,” Jackson added. “Maybe the Saturday after we get home.”

“A date would be nice,” Jessie agreed. “Sure.” Colton stared down Jackson, not happy that his buddy would jump in when he was trying to ask Jessie out.

Jackson and Jessie talked about what they expected at the Ranch. Colton’s anger quietly stewed. Sara called the crew together for Roses, Thorns and Buds soon after Jackson asked Jessie for a date. The sun was down and darkness was coming.

The crew gathered in a circle. Each person told their rose for the day, one thing that made this day special. They told everyone a thorn, something that they did not like about the day. The bud was their hope for the future.

Most people’s roses were for the beautiful weather that day, the scenery or the delicious dinner. No one had significant thorns, until it was Colton’s turn.

“My thorn today is so-called friends who say one thing and do another.” Colton was staring down Jackson as they talked. Jessie blushed a little, knowing what Colton was referencing.

Penny, ever the mother hen to this group, noted Colton’s words. She knew they would be addressing whatever grievance Colton had with someone else in the crew sooner or later.

The group headed to bed when roses, thorns and buds was done. Things were strained in the tent Jackson and Colton shared.

“I can’t fucking believe you stabbed me in the back like that,” Colton snapped as the two changed clothes to their sleep clothes.

“Chill, man,” Jackson retorted. “I did not stab you in the back. I know you like Jessie and want to date her. I like her too. I also know you have been too chickenshit to ask for a date again. We both knew Frey dumped her five weeks ago. We both knew she went to the prom with Adam Morrison. Right?” Colton glared at his tentmate. “Well?”

“Yeah.”

“I did not see Jessie hanging around with Adam at school, like they were dating,” Jackson continued. “I suspected they weren’t a couple. I said nothing for the last month waiting for you to make your move and ask Jessie out. Did you do anything?” Colton stared at Jackson, his face a mix of anger and embarrassment. Finally, Jackson stated, “You did nothing! Well, I am tired of you being too chickenshit to make a move. I asked Jessie for a date and that is that. You have only yourself to blame.”

“A true friend would never have done this,” Colton whined.

“A true friend waited five weeks for you to do something. If I waited longer, neither of us would have gotten to date Jessie. Someone else would have come along and swept her up. Is anything I said untrue? Did you make any attempt to ask Jessie out in the past five weeks?”

“No,” Colton admitted.

“You have no one to blame but yourself,” Jackson said. The two went silent. Their argument was not quiet and everyone in the crew overheard them.

“So, what do we do about this?” Kyle whispered to Penny.

“I can speak with the boys in the morning,” Penny offered.

“Will it help?” Kyle sighed. “This has the potential to be like Liz, Cody and Josh at Algonquin years ago.” Kyle’s sister Liz was going steady with Cody Stevens at the time of their second trip to Canada. The two had a fight up in the wilderness. Josh Strickler ended up with Liz after the trip. Kyle heard how disastrous having multiple crew members at each other’s throats had been for that crew. He heard from Cody, Josh and Joe Baer, the crew’s advisor. Eventually Liz talked about the fracas too.

“I do not want to go to the Ranch with two crew members at each other’s throats over our daughter,” Kyle said.

“We identified a problem,” Penny replied. “We work the problem and then we find a solution. Relax, honey. This will be fine.”

“I hope,” Kyle replied.

Jessie overheard the argument too. She tossed and turned for a while before deciding how she would handle the two guys who wanted to date her.

Kyle had David up around 6:30 AM to rouse the crew and get things going. Kyle put on a big pot of water to heat while the crew got up and packed.

Jessie grabbed Jackson and Colton when they got out of their tent. “The three of us need to talk,” Jessie stated as she pulled them away from the rest of the crew.

“Jackson asked me for a date and I said yes,” Jessie stated plainly, staring at Colton. “Get over it!”

“He knew I wanted to go out with you and he asked you anyway,” Colton replied. “It’s not right for a buddy to do this?”

“To give you a whole month for you to ask me for a date before he asks?” Jessie retorted. “What exactly did I tell at the shakedown about you and me dating if Grant wasn’t my boyfriend?”

“Um ... uh, you would be willing to go on a date with me?”

“Did you ask me for the date I promised you?” Jessie asked.

Colton looked down before admitting, “No.”

“Well...?”

Jackson got the drift. “Go on ... ask her,” he said as he poked his friend in the arm. Colton looked at Jackson and then back at Jessie.

“Uh ... would you go on a date with me, Jessie?” Colton asked.

“I would enjoy going on a date with you,” Jessie said, giving her suitor a big smile.

“You would?” Colton stammered. “Cool!”

“What about our date?” Jackson said, his face displaying his concern.

“I already said yes to you,” Jessie replied. “I’ll go out with you one Saturday night, Jackson. I’ll go out with you, Colton, another Saturday night.”

“And then?” Colton asked.

“First dates don’t come with guarantees,” Jessie answered. “Just like any first date, we will get to know each other better and see if either of us are interested in another date after that.”

“And if you have fun on both dates?” Jackson challenged. “What then?”

“I will get to know both of you better,” Jessie said. “We will have to see how things work out as we get to know one another better. Are both of you good with this? You know how our advisors have harped on how all of us need to work as a team? Can you guys do that?”

“Yeah, I can,” Jackson responded.

“I guess I can too,” Colton added. The three rejoined their crew. Penny spotted the two boys immediately.

“Colton, Jackson, could I talk with the two of you?” Penny announced.

“Everything is taken care of, Mom,” Jessie said.

“Yeah, we’re cool, Doctor Martin,” Colton said.

“Yeah ... it’s all good,” Jackson agreed. “The issue is all settled.” Penny stared at her daughter. Jessie gave her mom a smile and nod yes. Penny accepted their promise ... for now. She knew she would need to watch this situation, if the two boys were both interested in Jessie romantically.

The crew gathered for breakfast when the pot of water boiled. They had oatmeal, raisins, granola bars and some beef jerky. Kyle reminded them again to save the beef jerky for a snack on the trail once they got hiking. The spike of protein would be helpful.

The group hiked out of Birch Run Shelter a little after 7:30 AM. It was a mile until the crossed Shippensburg Road. They had ten miles of hiking that morning, but it was mostly level or downhill, until they reached Tom’s Run Shelter, around ten o’clock. The crew did a twenty-minute break there before following the dirt road out of the hollow the shelter was in.

The group crossed over Micheaux Road, hugging the side of a hill for a ways. The trail dipped down into the valley and then up another small hill. The group hit Route 233, a quarter of a mile south of Pine Grove Furnace State Park. They followed the road up to the park and hiked into the general store.

The Pine Grove Furnace General Store was a traditional place for through-hikers on the Appalachian Trail to stop and celebrate their reaching the half-way point between Georgia and Maine. How do they celebrate? They purchase a half gallon of Hershey’s Ice Cream and devour the whole container in one sitting. That is a lot of calories. If you are hiking all 2,194 miles of the Appalachian Trail, your body desperately craves all those calories to fuel it to continue the trek.

Crew 628-J4 did stop at the store, but no one bought more than a pint of ice cream. Jessie and Kaylie broke out lunch. David, Kyle and Matt took their share first and then headed south to pick up the cars. Penny and the remainder of the crew relaxed and talked with a couple of “lazy” though-hikers who planned an easy day of fifteen miles to the Kennedy Shelter, not too far from Dillsburg.

Kyle, David and Matt showed up around a quarter to one. Everyone loaded up and the group headed back to Chester County. This marked the end of training for Philmont. In seven days, this trip got real.

Monday, June 21, 2032 – Crossan Park, Kemblesville, PA

Year 2 of the Philly version of the “Fritz Football Academy” began quite differently than the previous years. Danny, EJ and Dylan Reynolds all begged Ed Fritz to accept more students than just the three of them. When the event blew up to include fifteen middle school or high school students, Ryan Reynolds, Zion Cherry and Colin Weaver all volunteered to help coach the clinic.

Participants included quarterbacks Chris Goebel, Danny, Ethan Rogers and EJ Fritz. Three tight ends showed up – Dylan, Mike Franklin and Caleb Summers. Mike would be on the varsity team, Caleb the JV team and Dylan on the middle school team. Two running backs came – Dylan Achenbach and Noah McMullen. Danny had made sure Noah came. The slew of wide receivers, from Ricardo Muniz, who would be a senior in the fall, to Jacob Lilley, Noah Holbrook, Mike Marchesani, all slated for varsity, along with JV’s Tyler Glass and the middle school team’s Cooper Stevens joined them.

Coach Fritz sat down with Coach Meyer before the academy started and reviewed Coach Meyer’s plans and expectations for his teams in the fall. It would not help the kids one bit if he taught them things that did not fit into Coach Meyer’s plans for the fall season.

The academy ran from 8:30 AM to noon for four days. Zion and Colin worked with the receivers, Ryan Reynolds with the tight ends and running backs while Ed worked with the four quarterbacks. Colin recruited his roommate, Aaron Cain, to come in Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to help out.

The kids reveled in being taught by Eagles coaches and players. The kids did drills. The practiced the route tree. They simulated some of Red Devil’s plays. The kids learned about adjusting to what the defense was doing.

During one of the breaks Thursday morning, Chris Goebel took Danny aside.

“This has been great learning from Coach Fritz,” Chris commented as Danny swigged down some water. “Why did you invite me to learn all of this? You know I plan to be QB1 for varsity when the fall starts.”

“And you may be,” Danny laughed. “Then again, I may win Coach Meyer over and make it onto the varsity team too, in which case, I plan to be QB1. I invited you to this because, if I end up with JV again this season, I want varsity to play the offense the right way, so when I make varsity and take over as QB1 the following year, the team does things the right way and is used to winning. Whatever it takes to make our program better.”

“I doubt you’ll take over that easily,” Chris teased. “If I make QB1 this year, I will not be giving it up when you join varsity.”

“That will be determined on the practice field this August,” Danny said. “My plan is for me to be QB1 when our varsity faces Strath Haven on August 28th.”

“We will see about that,” Chris replied, looking up at the Danny, who was a couple inches taller and about ten pounds heavier than his own 5’-10” and 135 pounds.

The kids finished out the morning. The group praised their part-time coaches vociferously at the end of Thursday’s practice. Danny, Dylan and EJ sought out Coach Fritz when everyone was parting.

“Uncle Ed, thanks for agreeing to help out our team,” Danny remarked.

“Yeah, thanks so much, Dad,” EJ echoed.

“You have a good bunch here,” Ed replied. “I had fun teaching them about the game. They are so enthusiastic and eager. It doesn’t always work that way as the players get older and go up in levels in football.”

“We’re not that bad, Coach,” Colin interjected.

“No, you and Aaron are good players,” Ed replied. “You still get that football is a game and is meant to be fun. Too many older players treat football as a job and lose the joy in all of this.”

“I hope I don’t lose the joy in playing,” Danny remarked.

“I am sure you won’t,” Ed responded. “Do you want a lift home? I can throw your bike in the back.”

“I’ll ride,” Danny responded. “It’s not far.” The coaches headed out. Danny peddled down Parsons Road after his coaches. He had a date with Anna after lunch.

Thursday, June 24, 2032 – Harris Residence, Landenberg, PA

Danny rode over to Anna’s house after lunch. They had an intimate afternoon planned. Mike’s girlfriend Avery showed up within minutes of Danny’s arrival. Both parked their bikes on the front lawn near the porch.

Mike and Avery headed upstairs to his room for privacy. Anna and Danny headed for the family room and streamed a movie for a while. The two horny teens kissed and made out, only half paying attention to the TV. Sexual tension ratcheted up as they stimulated each other. Danny’s hands went up Anna’s T-shirt to feel up her bra-less titties. She felt his bulging package through his shorts.

“God, I can’t believe this is our last time together for five weeks,” Anna exclaimed as she wriggled under his intense touches.

“It does suck,” Danny agreed. Between his Penn State Seven-On-Seven Football Camp, Scout camp, his trip to Disney World with his aunt and uncle, his cousin Connor’s wedding plus the Harris’ two-week family vacation to Minnesota, they couple would be apart far too long.

“Upstairs?” Danny gasped as Anna reached up the leg of his loose shorts and fondled his erection. “Too many clothes? Shirts ... in my... [pant] ... way.”

“Yeah,” Anna giggled. “I don’t ... OOHHhh ... want to ... strip where... [huff] ... anyone can walk ... in. My bedroom has ... more [groan] ... privacy.”

“Mike and ... Shit, don’t do that,” Danny grunted. “I’ll come here ... OOhhhh ... and now.” Anna stopped stroking Danny’s hard-on and pulled her hand out of his shorts.

Anna pulled Danny to his feet and led him upstairs. “Mike and Avery will be busy. They won’t disturb us.” As the two reached the top of the stairs, they heard rhythmic clapping of two bodies together coming from Mike’s bedroom. How had the clueless virgin of six months ago turned into a dedicated pussy hound he was today? Having a nymphomaniac girlfriend certainly helped. Danny had lost count of the number of times he and Anna had to listen to Mike get it on with Avery.

Clothes came off and the two randy thirteen-year-olds hopped in bed and went back to making out and exploring. They continued their explorations when they heard Mike climax and the room next door get quiet. Anna got Danny off with a hand job. Danny returned the favor, bring Anna to climax with his hand. The two teens cuddled for a bit.

“My turn to be on top,” they heard Avery comment through the wall.

“Cool,” Mike answered. Mike’s bed started creaking. Anna and Danny could see the scene – Mike flat on his back while Avery rode his erection, her titties bouncing up and down as they screwed. Danny and Anna may have been virgins but they viewed enough porn to picture what was happening on the other side of the wall.

Danny began rubbing his torso against Anna’s. God, he wanted to get laid. Anna was turned on as Danny rubbed that boner of his against her.

“Anna, I think it is time for us to go further,” Danny offered. “I have protection. We can do it and be safe. Please?”

Danny and Anna had been having this discussion nearly every time they were alone in the past month or so. “Danny, I don’t know,” Anna answered.

“We’ve dated and gone steady for six months,” Danny countered. “You know I care about you so much. I’m not a guy who wants nothing more than to get in your pants. You know that.”

“I do,” Anna agreed.

“All our friends are doing it,” Danny replied. “It will be fun and I want to show you how much I care by sharing our first time together ... today.”

“Not all our friends are screwing,” Anna retorted.

“Most of them,” Danny countered.

“OK ... many of them,” Anna allowed. “I just don’t know.” Danny continued rocking his hips, rubbing his erection against Anna’s crotch. The sensations of dry humping were incredible.

“We’re both virgins so there are no worries about STIs,” Danny replied. “We are in a committed relationship and care about each other. I have rubbers, so we can do this safely with no risk of me knocking you up.”

“Danny!”

“What? Sex is fun,” Danny replied. “Listen to your brother and Avery next door.” The two could hear the sighs and giggles as they screwed again.

“Danny, you know what the sex advice columns say about your first time?” Anna asked. “If you aren’t sure if you are ready for sex, then you are not ready.”

“And?”

“I am not sure I am ready,” Anna answered.

“You’re wet, you’re horny and turned on,” Danny said as he tried to slide his hand under her panties again. “It’ll be safe and fun, I promise.

“Danny, NO!” Anna snapped as she pushed Danny’s hand away from her panties. “You’re pressuring me and you promised not to do that.”

“I’m sorry,” Danny said, rolling off Anna. He was sorry, but not totally. Danny had been flirting with losing his virginity for over a year and he was more than ready for that to happen. He was certain that Anna was the right girl. What did he need to do to seal the deal?

“I know you want to, Danny,” Anna said. “The day will come, probably sooner than later, but that day is not today.”

“Yeah,” Danny sighed.

“Maybe we better get dressed and go back downstairs and stream another movie, before things go too far up here.”

Anna and Danny dressed. Avery gave out a shriek followed by moans from Mike. The couple next door apparently climaxed. That just added to Danny’s frustration. Anna and Danny headed downstairs and streamed another movie to pass the remainder of the afternoon.

“Have fun at football camp and Disney World,” Anna commented as Danny prepared to leave.

“You and your family enjoy the fishing and camping in Minnesota,” Danny answered. “I’ll see you in five weeks.” The two kissed one more time before Danny pedaled home.

On his ride back, Danny pondered his relationship with Anna. What more could he do to convince Anna to have sex? Not really sex. Between foreplay, hand jobs, oral and dry humping, the two of them were already having sex. What Danny wanted was intercourse. When would Anna feel ready? Maybe after five weeks apart. In the meantime, Danny was going to be giving himself a lot of hand jobs.

Friday, June 25, 2032 – Intramural Building, Penn State University, State College, PA

“Thanks for bringing me up here, Pop-Pop,” Danny commented as he pulled his bag out of the back of his grandfather’s car. They were parked along Curtin Avenue beside Penn State’s Intramural Building. Danny glanced down the road and spotted Beaver Stadium, a quarter mile to the north.

“All part of the service, Jay,” Dan Martin replied to his grandson, Danny “Jay” Martin. “Are you certain you do not want me to go in with you to make sure you get registered properly?”

“I’m good, Pop-Pop,” Danny replied, grinning. “I got this.” Dan couldn’t help being reminded how alike Danny Jay was to his father. Twenty-four years ago, when Kyle had done his first football camp, he had displayed similar independence, insisting on going on his own. Of course, Kyle had been almost seventeen when he drove himself up to State College.

“I’ll see you Sunday at 11:30 AM in the Lasch Building parking lot.”

“That’s what the info about the camp says,” Danny answered. “Love you, Pop-Pop.”

“Love you too,” Dan replied. “Behave and listen to your coaches.”

“I will,” Danny grinned. “I promise.” Dan watched as Danny Jay headed inside the IM Building. There were twenty-five or thirty other kids from his age up to maybe seventeen, lining up in the gym. Danny took a spot at the end of the line marked “I-N”.

Danny had to wait a few minutes until he reached the head of the line. “Name?” the clerk asked.

“Daniel J. Martin,” Danny answered.

She checked down a list. “Here you are. All your releases and medical forms are in order. You will be rooming in 413 McKean Hall this weekend. Join the group over there and wait for one of the guides to take you over to your room.”
