Chapter 2: The Start of a New Life

As the Faun named Mako rested in her newfound environment, she was pleasantly surprised by the extraordinary comfort of the bed, which allowed her to slip into a deep and restful slumber. However, her peaceful rest was abruptly interrupted when she was awakened by a mysterious and otherworldly light that began to manifest above her bed.

Mako’s eyes flew open as she beheld the ethereal figure that materialized before her. At first, she couldn’t help but feel a surge of panic at the sight, but the apparition swiftly addressed her, and its words seemed to resonate with a strange kind of familiarity.

“Please don’t panic,” the spectral being implored. “I apologize for appearing like this. This is the result of my unique skill. Though the fact I appear before you means you are an Otherworlder Reincarnation, is this correct?”

The unexpected encounter left Mako both startled and bewildered. She hesitated for a moment before finally responding, “Yes, that’s correct. I’ve been reincarnated into this world as a Faun. Who are you, and what’s happening?”

“Ah, yes I see. My name is Augustus Von Siemils, and I am the provincial lord of Verdantwood Province. We appear to be in a cabin. In fact, I think we may in fact be in my province as we speak. But to answer your question, my unique skill, reincarnation meet, activates when a new reincarnation appears in this world.” Said the being identified as August Von Siemils.

Mako listened attentively to the spectral being who introduced himself as Augustus von Siemils, the provincial lord of Verdantwood Province. She felt a mixture of surprise and curiosity, wondering how she had ended up in this mysterious place and what connection it had to the lord.

“Verdantwood Province?” she repeated in wonder. “So, I’ve been transported to another world, and this is your province. But what do you mean by your ‘unique skill,’ and how does it relate to my reincarnation here?” Mako’s mind raced with questions, and she couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of curiosity about this extraordinary encounter.

“Those born in this world are granted special skills, some, given to them by their race, in your case, Deerkin, which Fauns are the female forms of, while for the individual personally, they are given a special, unique skill all of their own, my unique skill allows me to meet those who have arrived in this world, via reincarnation, think of it like the welcoming committee, though understandably, due In part to my appearance, things can get chaotic, so I appreciate you remaining calm like this.” he said to her.

Mako absorbed Augustus’s explanation, slowly coming to terms with the extraordinary nature of this world she had found herself in. It was starting to make sense—each individual here possessed a unique skill, though she wasn’t aware of her own unique skills or how they seemed to be related to her reincarnation. She nodded in response to Augustus’s words. “I see. It’s a lot to take in, but I’m trying to adapt to this new reality as best as I can. You seem to be handling it quite well, Lord Augustus.”

Mako had a feeling that there was much more to learn about this world, and she was eager to understand her own unique skill and how it might help her navigate this unfamiliar land.

“Indeed, though I’ve had 35 years to adapt, anyway, as a Faun, you have many skills, the important of which is Pan’s Blessing, see Pan is a god of nature in this world, and as a Faun, animals are less likely to attack you, same with dryads, Spriggans and other plant and animal-based Monsters, or normal animals.” Lord Augustus said to her.

Mako found herself absorbing the information Lord Augustus was sharing with her. Pan’s Blessing, the divine favor of a nature deity, seemed like a significant ability for a Faun, considering the environment they inhabited.

“Pan’s Blessing,” she repeated, committing the term to memory. “That sounds like a valuable skill for someone like me in this world. I appreciate you explaining this to me, Lord Augustus. It’s going to be essential as I navigate this new life as a Faun.”

Mako couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder about the mystical aspects of this world and what more she had yet to discover.

“I am happy to help, especially since you’re the first reincarnation in six years, I’ve been curious about what’s been going on back home on earth since I’ve been gone, but I think those questions should happen later, when we meet in person, in my case, my real body. Once I return, I will send some of my people to make sure you get to the capital. You will be allowed to stay in the lord’s manor if you’d like, or come back here to this cabin.” He said to her.

Mako was intrigued by the prospect of meeting Lord Augustus in person and learning more about the world and its inhabitants. She also appreciated the offer of assistance and the option to stay in the lord’s manor. It was clear that she would need guidance as she adapted to her new life as a Faun in this fantasy world.

“I would be grateful for your help, Lord Augustus,” she said. “Meeting in person and receiving guidance would be greatly appreciated. For now, I think I’ll stay in the cabin until your representatives arrive. I have a lot to process, and I’d like to explore my new surroundings.”

Mako felt a mixture of curiosity and excitement as she considered the adventures that awaited her in this mystical land.

The apparition levitated and lowered before it returned to its original position, as if it was nodding at what she was saying. “Indeed, for now, just rest here, oh, and, you might find, this useful.” It said as a tome appeared and was lowered to her bed. “I had created this a while ago should someone from Earth ever find their way here, whether through reincarnation, like us, or an otherworld summon. The tome will explain the world, and it has information on the races like yours. It will also teach you the language of this world”

Mako accepted the tome, and as she held it in her hands, she felt a surge of gratitude toward Lord Augustus for his thoughtfulness. She knew that the information contained within would be invaluable as she navigated this new world.

“Thank you, Lord Augustus. This tome will be a tremendous help in understanding this world and its inhabitants. I’ll make good use of it while I wait for your representatives. And I look forward to our eventual meeting.”

With the tome in her possession, Mako had a valuable resource to start her journey of adaptation and exploration in this fantastical realm.

“I do hope you do find it useful, and it appears my unique skill is deactivating, but before I go, I am not certain if you have watched certain Iseka Anime, but in this world, beings other than human don’t generally have names, but once they are given one, they get stronger, and may in some cases evolve. As a Faun, you are likely nameless, though you had one in your other life. Is there a special name you’d like to be called? Something you went by online?” the now flickering apparition asked. The faun thought about it, before she spoke “Aeta” she said.

“Aeta,” she said. “That’s the name I’ll go by in this world. It holds a special meaning to me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to choose.”

With the name Aeta now her own, she felt a renewed sense of identity in this unfamiliar realm. She looked forward to embracing her new name as she embarked on her journey.

“Very well, I name you Aeta.” As the apparition spoke energy similar to the cloud’s, Aeta saw escaped the apparition and surrounded and filled her. She felt stronger, like she grew a few levels.

Aeta felt a surge of newfound strength and purpose as the energy surrounded her, leaving her invigorated. The transformation was complete, and she now fully identified as Aeta, a Faun in the world of Nirvalise. She was ready to embrace her new life and the adventures that awaited her.

The apparition offered a final smile and nodded before it began to fade away. “Rest well, Aeta. You will need it until we meet in person.”

With that, the apparition disappeared completely, leaving Aeta alone in her new life, with the tome and the knowledge it provided as her guide. She decided to spend some time familiarizing herself with the book, preparing for the journey that lay ahead.

Aeta’s story in Nirvalise was just beginning.

Before the Activation of Lord August’s unique skill

Before the Faun, now named Aeta, had her encounter with the disembodied apparition of the provincial lord, Lord Augustus von Siemils was in a meeting with those he’d assigned to the experimental zone. “So the mages were telling the truth, that the magic particles we’ve manipulated and forced into Experimental Zone Alpha were indeed transforming. Certain parts of it? Also, what’s this I’ve been hearing that the barrier team allowed a hole to appear?”

Lord Augustus von Siemils, the provincial lord of Verdantwood Province, sat at the head of a large meeting table, surrounded by his advisors and a team of mages responsible for the Experimental Zone Alpha. He listened intently to their reports and was visibly concerned by the information he was receiving.

“Explain in more detail,” he requested, his voice calm but authoritative.

One of the mages stepped forward, a bit nervously, and began to explain, “My lord, we have observed a transformation in the magic particles within the experimental zone. They are becoming more volatile and reactive, which is leading to unforeseen changes in the environment.”

Another advisor chimed in, “As for the barrier, there was an unforeseen breach. We believe it was a combination of the increased magical activity in the zone and some external interference. We are currently working to reinforce the barrier and prevent further breaches.”

Lord Augustus nodded, taking in the information. “I want constant updates on the situation, and I will be sending a team to investigate this further. We need to ensure the safety of our province and its people. Keep me informed of any developments.”

He leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. It was clear that this sudden change in Experimental Zone Alpha was a matter of great concern, and Lord Augustus was determined to get to the bottom of it.

“Yes my lord, from the reports I’ve seen, a Deer had entered the area, as have a wasp insect, and as you’ve might have expected both have made contact with the magic particles, but the deer, in particular, after becoming a monster, was suddenly hit with some kind of energy, that our associates in the college, have suggested this changed the body, to becoming a faun, the feminine form of a Deerkin, We do not know if the other monsters, are sentient, or if they can be reasoned with, but Deerkin can, as we have hoped.” Said a member of the Barrier group, in the meeting.

Lord Augustus listened attentively to the mage’s explanation. The mention of the deer’s transformation into a faun was intriguing and worrisome. “This is a most unusual turn of events,” he noted, “But it may provide us with an opportunity to better understand the changes occurring within the experimental zone.”

He turned to the advisor responsible for research and investigations. “Prepare a team to enter the experimental zone and make contact with the faun. We must assess its level of sentience and whether communication is possible.”

The advisor nodded and made a quick note of the order.

Lord Augustus continued, “Keep the barrier reinforced and monitor any further changes closely. And notify the mages and scholars at the college. I want their expertise on this matter.”

His expression remained calm, but there was an underlying sense of urgency in his actions. The situation within Experimental Zone Alpha had taken an unexpected and potentially dangerous turn, and Lord Augustus was determined to address it swiftly and effectively.

“Yes sire, though what the sensory team have said, it appeared that the faun in question has escaped. We are sending subordinates to watch for their safety as well,” said the sensor group representative.

Lord Augustus raised an eyebrow at the news of the faun’s escape. “Escaped, you say? That’s certainly unusual. Well, continue to monitor the situation and gather all the information you can about the faun and the other creatures within the experimental zone.”

He then addressed the team responsible for the experimental zone. “Secure the area and reinforce the barriers immediately. We can’t allow any more creatures to escape.”

The group leaders acknowledged his orders, and the room buzzed with activity as teams prepared to carry out their respective tasks. Lord Augustus remained focused, knowing that the situation had become more complex and potentially dangerous. The Faun’s escape had introduced a new element to the experiment, and he was determined to understand and control it to protect his province and its people.

Lord Augustus started getting an odd sensation, a familiar one of the activation of his unique skill. “You are dismissed,” Lord Augustus said. “It appears my unique skill is activating. I will be back soon. For the moment, follow my orders.” He tells his subordinates, then later he would return. The combination of his unique skill, and naming a Faun caused him some exhaustion, but a servant was quick to give him a recovery potion, and take care of his sweat.

Lord Augustus left the meeting room, feeling the strain from the use of his unique skill and the naming of the faun. He knew that his departure and the subsequent temporary absence of his guidance could be challenging for the teams working to manage the experimental zone. Nevertheless, he trusted his subordinates to carry out his orders effectively.

As Lord Augustus took a moment to recover and refresh himself with the recovery potion, he contemplated the unusual circumstances surrounding the appearance of the faun and the transformation of other creatures within the experimental zone. The situation had become even more complex and required his immediate attention.

With renewed energy, he prepared to return to his responsibilities, determined to monitor the evolving situation closely and ensure the safety of his province and its inhabitants.

Lord Augustus’s hopes for the creatures within the experimental zone were shared by many. The potential for these transformed beings to develop sentience and potentially be integrated into the realm’s society held the promise of progress and understanding. However, the unpredictable nature of magic and its effects on these creatures made it a challenging endeavor.

As he returned to his duties, Lord Augustus understood that careful monitoring and study were crucial. The experimental zone presented opportunities for discovery and exploration, but it also posed significant risks. He was prepared to provide guidance and support to his subordinates as they navigated this uncharted territory, all while striving for the betterment of their world.

Time would indeed be the ultimate judge of whether these creatures could be civilized and contribute positively to their realm.

“My Lord!” said another of his advisors, who had been at the meeting when they spotted him moving about. “You have returned! Does that mean that you have spoken to another from your former world, Earth?” They asked, unaware that the faun they were speaking of was that reincarnation he’d spoken to.

“Indeed, I have met another from Earth,” Lord Augustus replied, not revealing the specifics of his encounter with Aeta. “This new arrival is adapting well, and the potential for learning more about Earth and the experiences of those who have been reincarnated here is promising. We must continue to monitor and support her, as well as others who may find their way to our world.”

His advisors listened attentively, their curiosity piqued by the notion of contact with beings from another realm. The existence of Earth had always been a matter of intrigue and wonder among the people of their world. Lord Augustus knew that their interactions with these newcomers could lead to valuable insights, both about Earth and their own realm’s magic and nature. It was a time of change and discovery, and they would face it with cautious optimism.

“Excellent, my lord, I shall contact Shalla, your head maid, and ask her to send some of her women, to act as servants, and to meet her, perhaps, we should send them, instead of men, just in case the, she you spoke of, was fearful of men, we don’t want her intimidated after all.” the subordinate said.

Lord Augustus nodded in agreement. “That’s a wise decision. Have Shalla prepare a group of women to meet with our new arrival. We must ensure that Aeta feels welcome and safe. Keep me informed of their progress, and let me know if there are any developments. It’s crucial that we handle this situation with care.”

The advisor bowed and quickly departed to carry out their orders, ensuring that they made the proper arrangements to greet Aeta and assist her as needed. As Lord Augustus walked the corridors to his office, he would encounter other members of his staff, who bowed with respect to the provincial lord.

Lord Augustus nodded to his staff members as he passed them in the corridors, acknowledging their respect. He made his way to his office and took a seat, knowing that there were important matters to attend to regarding the changes occurring within the Experimental Zone Alpha and the arrival of the new reincarnation, Aeta.

He prepared to receive updates and reports from his advisors and subordinates, ready to address the evolving situation in his province with the utmost care and responsibility.

After a few minutes, voices, female voices could be heard, getting louder and louder as they approached the office door before it opened. Before the lord was a group of women, and he could see Wood Elves, feline Beastkin, and one Forest Ogre, a more civilized species of the Ogre species, rather than the larger brutish mountain ogres. “My lord, we have been dispatched to join the newcomer, but Silly Wakka had forgotten to ask where specifically we need to go,” said the wood elf speaker that Aeta would learn was named Eliyen.

Lord Augustus nodded at the group of women who had been dispatched to join the newcomer, Aeta. He considered the diverse assembly of forest elves, beastkin, and the forest ogre.

“Welcome, ladies,” he greeted them with a warm smile. “I appreciate your promptness in responding to my request. As for the newcomer, her current location is located in a Cabin in the experimental zone within our province, Verdantwood. I will provide you with a map to guide you there. I hope you will make her feel welcome and assist her in any way you can.”

Lord Augustus summoned a map, indicating the location of the experimental zone, and the cabin and handed it to the wood elf who had spoken.

“Please, approach her with kindness and offer any support she may need. We aim to make her transition to this world as smooth as possible. Keep in touch and provide regular reports on the situation. If you encounter any challenges or questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me.”

He wished the group well and trusted that they would carry out their mission with care and diplomacy.

The women looked at the map of the experimental zone, and the cabins outside the barrier where the glowing dot signifying Aeta’s position in the cabin labeled as Cabin 18 “Yes, my lord, we shall do our best, to follow that example!” They said in unison.

“Thank you,” Lord Augustus replied with a nod. “May your journey be safe, and may your meeting with our newcomer be one of warmth and understanding.”

With his blessings, the group of women headed off on their mission to assist Aeta in her transition to this new world. Lord Augustus returned to his office, his thoughts filled with curiosity about the meeting between the newcomer and his team. He hoped that Aeta would find her place in Verdantwood Province and perhaps contribute to the prosperous and diverse society that was emerging there.

Meanwhile

Meanwhile, as all this happened, Aeta had gone back to sleep once the meeting with the spectral form of the Provincial lord had ended, but since she no longer had an alarm clock, she was awakened by the light of morning.

As Aeta stirred awake, she found herself in the unfamiliar cabin. The reality of her situation began to sink in. She was now in a completely different world as a Faun named Aeta, and her connection to Earth was severed. The tomes in the cabin provided some information about the world she was in, but she was still in the process of learning and adapting.

Aeta remembered that she was expecting visitors. She got up, stretched her Faun legs, and decided to freshen up. With the running water in the bathroom, she could at least clean herself and prepare for the day. Afterward, she decided to take some time to review the information in the tomes, particularly about the languages and cultures of this world.

She couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anxiety about the upcoming meeting with the group sent by Lord Augustus. Her life had taken a surreal turn, but she was determined to face this new world with courage and an open heart.

As Aeta read the tome that the Lord had left, she discovered the names of the other provinces in the kingdom that the provinces were a part of. How the kingdom was one nation, in a vast planet of multiple kingdoms. But she knew she didn’t need to worry about that for now. Suddenly the pages in the tome glowed, and when she looked away, towards the books in the bookshelves nearby, she saw the writing on those books changed. Seemed she found the language part of the tome, which aided her differently.

The newfound knowledge about languages was a significant discovery for Aeta. It would make her interactions in this world much easier if she could communicate effectively. She decided to spend some time practicing and reading the changed text on the bookshelves to familiarize herself with the language.

As she delved deeper into the tome, she also sought information about the local customs, etiquette, and geography of the Verdantwood Province. Understanding the world around her was crucial to her survival and integration into this new society.

Time passed, and Aeta continued her studies, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the group sent by Lord Augustus. She was curious to meet others from this world and learn more about her surroundings.

Aeta’s curiosity and her research into the Faun race made her aware of the subtle but interesting distinctions between them and the Satyrs. The addition of horns for the males, like the deer on Earth, was an intriguing parallel. Understanding the differences and similarities between the races in this world would be valuable as she navigated her new life.

As she continued to study, she wondered how her skills and abilities might develop in this fantastical realm. The knowledge she gained about this world and its inhabitants would undoubtedly be an asset in her journey of self-discovery and adaptation.

Aeta’s search through the tome and her growing understanding of the world’s races and abilities was informative, but it seemed that the specifics of her own unique skill, Arcane Instinct, remained elusive. The tome had left her with the realization that unique skills were, well, unique to individuals, and this particular ability was meant to be a mystery for her to unravel.

With a wealth of information at her disposal and the potential of her undiscovered skill, Aeta’s journey in this fantastical world was just beginning, and she would have many opportunities to explore her newfound powers and abilities.
