Chapter 251: Eulalie Guidry, 14, Non-Negotiable...

News about the Son-Fuckers movie ripped through town like a tornado. Nobody knew about the film — then suddenly that was all everyone was talking about.

The radio station and newspaper covered it on a daily basis. Teachers talked it up. Kate and Darlene had their girls spread the word. Sausalito became fascinated with Karisha Washington. She was interviewed on Shannon Says and profiled in the Chronicle. The numerous Industry awards she’d won added to the luster.

She brought a film crew into town for a week. Cameraman, a sound girl with a boom mic, a gaffer for lighting, a script editor, and a gofer.

LeBlank Chevrolet lent them three new red pickups to transport people and equipment. Rémy Thibodeaux assigned two patrol cars, each with two uniformed officers, to escort the production team around town. No sirens, but flashing lights — in front and in back of the little caravan.

The police presence served a couple of purposes — one, it called attention to the film crew. And, on an almost subliminal level, it delivered a message — the Town of Sausalito approved of the movie.

Of course Eulalie wouldn’t leave it at that. The Chronicle ran the City Council Declaration of Appreciation on its front page:

“The Mayor and City Council approve and applaud Mothership Productions for its groundbreaking film project — “Son-Fuckers”. We encourage all citizens to give their full support to the project.”

The film crew shot backgrounders — different parts of town and the Cajun Bayous. They also stopped people at random — everyone from grannies to grade school students — for ‘man on the street’ interviews.

The fact that they also filmed kids led to town-wide speculation. Was Eulalie Guidry going to make the much-discussed move, and lower the age limit in town? Darlene Pellerin had been interviewing mothers of 10-year-olds. And she was doing the same for Kate Broussard. Would Miss Kitty’s be going the preteen route?

Most of the chatter was curiosity, not condemnation. The question in town wasn’t would? but when? Everyone understood that Darlene and Kate were eager to hire younger pussy — they were simply waiting on Eulalie’s blessing.

And, Lord knows, all those stage mothers of the preteen set were chomping at the bit.

Karisha’s film crew was mainly a gimmick to rouse the town, to generate conversations. She might use some of the footage — maybe a few minutes — but it was mostly for show.

And of those few minutes, the Cajun Bayous would be the most interesting so far as background material was concerned. Almost everyone was naked in the heat. The boys were erect or recovering. The mothers were open and straightforward.
