Chapter 2

After getting a few hours of sleep, Jeff did his shopping and stopped at the cleaners. Back at his condo, he put his purchases away and gave further thought to what he would do today. Jeff was not a golfer, nor was he a fisherman. The one thing he did that he enjoyed doing was what would be called scenic or landscape oil painting. He had taken an adult education course on oil painting while in the Air Force. He discovered that he had a talent and enjoyed doing this type of painting. Jeff didn’t have the talent to do portrait painting, but by using a picture of a scene, he could produce it fairly well in an oil painting.

The second bedroom in his condo was set up for him to do this painting. Along with an easel table, he had installed a large flat-screen television in this room, which was connected to an Android cable box. This box was connected wirelessly to the internet. If he took a picture of a scene he wanted to paint with his smartphone, he would email it to himself and have that picture displayed on this television, which he would reference in doing his painting.

Currently, he was in the process of painting a picture of Mount Kilimanjaro poking itself through the clouds that were below it. A friend of his who had gone on a safari to Africa had taken and sent him this photo. The tops of these clouds were similar to the tops of clouds he had seen many times while flying. As a pilot, he thought it was ironic that he could say that time just flew by when he was doing this oil painting.

After a late dinner, he called it an early night and hit the sack.

The following day, he was at O’Hare and met Emily, who was there waiting for him. They filed the flight plan, which was close to being a duplicate of the plan they had filed previously. The weather was checked, which gave all indications that it would be a smooth flight out to LAX, but the return flight could be a different story. The forecast was for storms to be in the area and over O’Hare when they were scheduled to land.

Walking onto the plane, Jeff said hello to the flight attendants before entering the cockpit. Both Jeff and Kay exchanged some smiles with each other. Kay said this was a full flight, with all seats taken.

The flight itself was uneventful, with Emily making a much smoother landing at LAX. The return flight was a different story when they were landing at O’Hare. The forecast for storms over the airport at that time was correct. It wasn’t the rain, but it was the heavy winds that had the plane bouncing around. Jeff was at the controls and was constantly adjusting the controls to compensate for this wind as he was doing the landing approach. He gave himself a mental pat on the back when the wheels of the plane touched the runway.

Emily’s remarked that caused him to smile, “And that’s another reason they pay you the big bucks.”

After they parked the plane at the gate, Jeff said to Emily, “In this type of weather situation, some pilots will engage the automatic pilot to follow the ILS to approach and land the plane with them just controlling the plane’s speed. While this is what some plane manufacturers recommend, I am at times reluctant to do that because landing a plane in those conditions is a skill a pilot needs to have. It can only be learned if a pilot does the landing with himself at the controls and by not engaging the automatic pilot. Doing those landings without the automatic pilot gets the pilot to be one with the plane, and he becomes the automatic pilot. If he doesn’t maintain or have that skill to land the plane in heavy weather, what will he do if he is faced with these weather conditions and the plane’s automatic pilot isn’t working or the ILS is down for repair?”

Jeff could see Emily nodding her head in agreement with what Jeff was saying.

This was the last time he would be flying this route for the month. He thanked Emily for being an excellent first officer and said he wished they would be paired up again. He told her that, in his opinion, she would become a good captain. She thanked him for those nice words and told him she appreciated what he said and taught her.

Jeff was walking to the Air Transit System, which was called the People Mover, to go to the economy parking lot. He was not surprised to see Kay standing there.

“Give you a lift?”

“Thanks; I would appreciate it.”

Walking to the car, Jeff asked her if she wanted to stop for something to eat.

“Why don’t I just order a pizza now that we can stop and pick it up? Emil’s Pizza is just down the street from my place, and they make good pizza.”

He told her to call in the order, which she did.

After picking up the pizza, they were at Kay’s condo. She asked Jeff to make them some drinks, as she wanted to change into something more comfortable. He was making the drinks and was thinking about what sexy outfit she was going to put on, as he was fairly sure of what was going to happen after they ate the pizza.

Sitting at the kitchen table, he was joined by Kay, who had changed into a loose-fitting black sweat suit outfit. Well, at least the pizza was delicious, he thought.

Once they had their fill of pizza with the leftovers put in the refrigerator, Kay said, “I think it’s time to go to bed. Do you want to join me? Notice that I didn’t say sleep.”

It was apparent Kay spoke her mind, which eliminated the need for any awkward preliminaries. Jeff followed her, noting the sexy wiggling of her butt.

Kay was quick to undress since the sweats were the only items of clothing she wore. She lay on the bed, watching Jeff as he divested himself of his clothing. He was looking at her ample breasts and dark, neatly trimmed bush, which contrasted with her alabaster skin as he was undressing. She was presenting him with an enticing, sexy picture.

Joining her on the bed, his arms went around her, and he started kissing her. Kay’s hand went to his shaft and was stroking it.

It wasn’t long after she was doing this that she said, “There is no reason to wait any longer; I am wet and ready for you.”
