The story was inspired by my brother, a significant figure in the gay rights movement (you'd recognize the name, as he was on the cover of every national news magazine for most of the year way back in 1972). But this was one of his strongest convictions, that we can't just 'bury' those who, like Oscar Wilde, make the rest of us uncomfortable, since they're the one's who put their lives on the line, making being gay an acceptable and LEGAL position in much of the world today.
