I spent eight years active duty in the Marine Corps before having to accept a medical discharge (disabled veteran). Most, but not necessarily all, of my stories thus involve a Marine or a disabled Marine – HOWEVER – the stories are NOT about the Marine Corps. No shoot-em-ups, no wars, etc.
It is, usually, about a Marine who no longer wears a uniform (just for the record, there are NO former Marines, NO ex-Marines. Once you earn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor, you are A Marine for life, you just no longer wear the uniform).
While on active duty, after Boot Camp at Parris Island, S.C., and Advanced Infantry Training, Camp Lejeune, N.C., I was then stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison (yea, an Army base), Indianapolis, Ind., Naval Air Station, New Orleans, Hawaii, Birmingham, Ala., and Okinawa.
