James McDonald: Stories

My most and only significant piece of writing.

Years ago, Reluctant_Sir posted a very interesting story about a young man who became a Mage, and then a Wizard. But the story didn't stop just there. So, WITH HIS PERMISSION, I have taken this story a little farther down the line. Hopefully I can attempt to copy the quality that he began this story with. Thank you all, and YES, I do have his permission.

So it's been five years. A lot can happen, but there is a lot that is under construction. Hank and his Clan are working on things to benefit Fae, Wizards, and Mages. And it's all a lot of hard work. And not all of it is being done in the same place.

How would people cope with regulated human cannibalism? What kind of society would we have if 90% of the births were Women, and one percent per year were slated for the table. Or as pet food? Like any other breaucracy? This story is not for the strokes, nor for gore. But it does change the way you look at a steak.

Several years a go, A young man and his mother and Aunt succeeded in defeating Destroyer. The creature who wanted to enslave his daughter, and take over the world. In the aftermath of that battle, where Nick thought he had lost everyone and everything of value to him, a vortex opened up. And he was taken back to where... The story did continue some

Years after you finish, something can come up to you and take you back to where you were. For Combat Soldiers, it is called PTSD. For Candy Mitchell it's called something else.

For Carol and Nancy's Book "Recoil" second edition, Jamie offered a few short paragraphs about the legal situation at Findley. This will help those who are reading the convoluted legal wranglings at the end of Classy Conversions. Don't read it until you have read CC, as you will have both Spoiler issues, and confusion.

The Point of View of a 19 year old girl stuck in a "lifeboat' in a world insane with a new acceptable treatment of their population. And it has few real conversations, but a lot of emotional and philosophical content. If you have not read "Classy Conversions" this story wont' make a lot of sense. If you have, then get ready to look behind the curtain one more time.

So, you have a complexion others envy, Great Hair, an aggressively tuned body, Wonderful natural breast, and could have been a Cheerleader for the Chicago Bears. Add to that a Masters at U of Chicago and damn near a finish of MBA at Kellogg, and you are on the way to the top. Until you get a notice. And find that it is all for naught. What happens next? If you have not read Classy Conversions, this Point of View Diary won't make a lot of sense.

"Damn it, I am almost Tenured!" Those were the first words out of Nancy's mouth when she opened the envelope. Academics always feel that they are socially too important to be served on a plate. Only the assistant Chair of Women's studies isn't that important. So she is told to "Get your affairs in order and report. Heck, maybe you can write a book about the experience." If you have not read Classy Conversions, you wont' get a lot out of this post.
