I'm looking for stories where the family favors one son over another, even when the former does bad things. It can be stealing a spouse, scamming money, even physical harm. Never mind what the favored son does to the other son, the family backs him up. An ending with just deserts is a plus.
Are there stories like that? TIA.
There are plenty - rlfj's 'A Fresh Start' where Hamilton got a free pass every time and the protagonist did indeed end up in the desert IIRC ;-)
Wojtek's 'A New Beginning and Beyond' probably qualifies too.

Does it have to be sons, or would daughters be acceptable too? Cheryl Terra had a good one but it's been removed.
