Romantic harem

kungfufool45 ๐Ÿšซ
Updated:

I want to read a harem story where the main character isn't bedding any and everyone he comes across. I want to read where it's a small close-nit group against against the world. I really don't care what the setting is but I'd appreciate some fights

Edit: now that I'm reading this it seems like I'm demanding recommendations when in reality I'm only asking for them. I want to say I appreciate every recommendation I have and will receive. Even the ones that don't suit my tastes because you didn't have to take the time out and respond but you did so thank you.

If you listed some of your favorite such stories from SOL, it might help people know what to recommend, or even spark some ideas they wouldn't have had otherwise!

Harem means the women work for the man's pleasure.

If you want a more romantic equal relationship with polygamy, rather than strictly harem, then I recommend "Opus One" by Ryan Sylander. And, on the b-track, perhaps "Sixteen" by me ;)

I second both those recs, and add that some of aroslav's series might be what you're looking for: Model Student, The Transmogrification of Jacob Hopkins, and Living Next Door to Heaven, in particular. The first is most romantic, second has the most us-against-the-world vibe, the last has the most fighting.

On the b-side, there's my own Triad series.

ETA: Oh, two more possibilities: Daze in the Valley by Jay Cantrell, and Unconquered by Dragon Cobalt. The latter has a world-spanning war lead by the polygamist marriage, the former has polygamous porn stars out to reform the industry.

Mike cropo's of eden and elves...first in a five part series that is incredible although the last book is unfinished. The author safely past away a couple of years ago.

Any idea why that Universe starts with Book 2?

Any idea why that Universe starts with Book 2?

It doesn't, the first book is Time of Eden and Elves. Sort the universe list on date ascending and it will appear as the first book.

Thanks, Keet! Weird, I thought that was the default in Universes. I think I even scanned dates checking, but I clearly missed this. Appreciate the help.

Out of curosity I entered two terms, consensual and harem, in the SOL search page. Egads - 868 returns. I electronically thumbed through a couple of hundred and decided that I was happy to recommend some I had read and liked in the past, that is with one exception.

I rediscovered Clarke's book on the list. I had fully intended to read it back when. Now I have something to curl up with while I wait for the next book in the A Better Man series by GYounger.

Others have recommended many of aroslav's stories, and those certainly fit.

Broadly speaking, both 'Arlene and Jeff' and 'Three Square Meals' qualify. 'Arlene and Jeff' is a pretty large somewhat close-knit group, but the main character isn't bedding anyone he's not married to (or, depending on your definition of 'bedding', engaged to). 'Three Square Meals' is large - but less large - and it's literally the group against the world, with a lot of fights. The main character does 'bed' other characters, but they're either generally important or it's a much more... transactional... arrangement.

Daze In The Valley (also previously mentioned) is another obvious fit.

My question is whether Aroslav's stories fit the harem idea since everybody sleeps with everybody else in more of a poly situation than a harem, though the MC is the "leader" of the group.
A newer story is Beth by Bronte Follower where the harem is his 2 wives, daughter and daughter's friends. Of course the girls have sex with each other more often than with him.

The main relationship in Lazlo Zalezac's The Millionaire Next Door would probably fit the bill for you:

https://storiesonline.net/s/54088/the-millionaire-next-door

It's not a traditional harem as it's a guy with a bi-/lesbian couple and an additional straight girl, but by keeping it small each of the characters has both a very clearly expressed personality and a role within the group.
