Poor Boy, Rich Girl

rymer221b ๐Ÿšซ

I'm currently looking for stories where the MC is a poor boy/man who falls for the Rich girlwoman. Also any bosses daughter stories would be greatly appreciated.

Someone made the same request some time in the last year and garnered a lot of suggestions, although I don't know if there were any "bosses daughter stories".

https://storiesonline.net/s/44826/in-the-navy involves wooing the daughter of someone who could be described as his boss.

Edited to add the previous thread: https://storiesonline.net/d/s9/t3102/rich-girl-with-poor-boy (it turned out to be almost two years ago, time flies)

That request can cover a lot of ground.

Here is a light weight young romance from Jason Samson:

https://storiesonline.net/series/1425/the-manor-series

Local tradesman's son falls for daughter of the Lord of the Manor & vice versa. A gentle story of teens in love for the first time, across a class divide that still exists today. No car crashes, gun fights or murders. Its a very British story.

Richard Gerald's Crime & Punishment has the poor boy / rich girl trope as background.

https://storiesonline.net/s/16777/crime-and-punishment

Along with related stories Unfaithful & Faithful in her Fashion, it follows the story of Stephen "Foxy" Fitzgerald, a New York Irish lawyer from a poor background, married to Susan DeVoe Singleton from an old New York Dutch ruling class family. Historic child abuse, long covered up by Catholic Church and now about to be brought to light gives the main MacGuffin as lawyers, politicians, churchmen, survivors, judges and the FBI all try to get the evidence. None of the institutions really want justice done, they want the power the evidence will give them to blackmail others in positions of authority. See the recent Epstein and Weiner cases for real life examples.

If you hate stories about men who put up with cheating wives, this one is not for you. Richard Gerard writes ambiguous characters, with multi layered personalities. His men tend to be wimps in their relationships until pushed to breaking, when they finally find their spines. In their careers they are driven and willing to do whatever it takes to win, law and morality be damned. His women are ambitious, driven, amoral and self centered. A very New York story.

Rlfj's Grim Reaper also uses this trope as background:

https://storiesonline.net/universe/979/grim-reaper-universe

The Grim Reaper meets his Irish Sprite while still in elementry school. He's lower middle class and destined to push a broom at his uncles feed plant until he finds his calling as a reaper of souls in the military and SWAT. She's the daughter of an international banker, destined to be a maths professor.

This is a series of full length novels, so the romance arc is background to many police chases, helcopter crashes, artillery barrages, shootings and desperate last stands against overwhelming odds.

A very American story.
