I've enjoyed stupid boy, playing the game, dman, path to glory, stories with Brock Miller.

There is a series of stories by Tony Stevens "Take me out to the Ball Game". While each of them is fairly short (the longest is roughly 100k words) there are a total of 18 currently.

A story written about the same time frame as "Playing the Game" is the "A Golfer's Dream series" by TheCaddy.

Ice skating (dance) I would suggest "Dance of a Lifetime" https://storiesonline.net/s/40258/dance-of-a-lifetime
Some others
Path to Glory https://storiesonline.net/s/56290/path-to-glory
Douglas Fox's "Lost and Found" is another good one. Note that this is part of a series and some characters are introduced in earlier stories.

definitely recommended
Path to Glory https://storiesonline.net/s/56290/path-to-glory
imho it is OK but his success seems a bit "manufactured"
Yeah i didn't like path to glory either, i hate the whole girl who tells the boy to wait for her to grow up while she plays the field troupe and it seems like a lot of SOL authors use it lol.

Yes, some SOL authors do that but some write it so well that you don't give up on it.
Another point about sports stories - in some the MC works constantly to get to the top, in others he just starts the game with no preparation and is top of the pile - yeuch.
Try Don Lockwood, his Naked In School series is great and includes High School Baseball while naked
Dance of a lifetime is really great.
But not many epics contain a sports theme. Those coming of age epics are mostly from a nerd point of view. I wouldn't have started stupid boy id there wasn't the Model career involved.
I seriously need to archive my viewed stories, I remember a femslash story about College basketball players but can't remember the name right now (not on sol)
How is the A Stupid Boy series in the romance department? The only other long sport story I've read here is The Defenceman and whilst I enjoyed the sports parts, I found the romance tedious. Stupid Boy lacks the romance tag, but in the description of the second book it's advertised as Best Romantic Story (2nd), so I guess it's got some romance? To be more specific with what I'm looking for; a sports story with the focus on the sports and the romance part should be like the romance tag is described in this sites FAQ, "Mushy love story". That means, in my opinion, no hard break ups, cheating, rape etc, there ain't anything mushy about things like that!
The ideal story that I'm looking for would be centered on the MCs sports career, and most the drama would be concerning that, and the romance parts would be a mushy love story. If the A Stupipd boy series is far from this, is any of the other suggestions in this thread closer, or does anyone have any new suggestions?

It's a well-written story but I don't think the content would justify a romance tag - it's not that sort of story.

Banner Year by Shrink42.
The first third of The Grim Reaper (after which he leaves school and hangs up his pads).
Will novel length (50,000 words - sorta) do?

Good suggestion themewise, but I don't know if it's long enough to qualify for his request for epic-length stories.
He should still check it out. It's one of my all-time favorites.

Finding a Place should be read in conjunction with Dance of a Lifetime, as they get mentioned by Warren in the epilogue for DoaL.
Yeah, but I hear the author is kind of a dick and doesn't post on a regular basis.
But when he does post, take the time to read the new chapter cause you will enjoy it.
At least... that's what I heard.
Look up Ton-a-Tits Tess, also by Tony Stevens, followed by Will and Tess's Excellent Adventure. This is for people who fantasise about LPGA players or more generally about women with big boobs.
The main stories by Wizard are also sports-themed, if not very realistic. Wizard's stories involve underaged people, so be warned.
If you can handle a little mind control (as it's not really the main focus, but rather a plot device), my story, The Consequences and Rewards of Playing Hooky might serve. The MC is a high school baseball player and the story has a lot of romance in it. It is only "novel" length, so it wouldn't qualify as an epic.

novels like this urk me, why does the black girl always lose. is there something wrong with the storiesonline writers that the white guy cant end up with the black girl?
I have a white male / black female stroke story I've been trying to get off the ground for a while. While it's certainly not novel length, this Has reminded me of it, and I might try to poke it again soon.
My story Tag Ciara features a mixed-race protagonist (which means in a lot of modern parlance that she's black, because...reasons?), and she does end up winning in the context of her story (which is decidedly not a romance)
I'd love to hear ideas from you on other stories; feel free to message me. As always, I can't promise I use ideas, but I like hearing them. Even if I have my style and my preferred themes.
How does Chantelle lose? She's mostly happy at the end and with the guy she loves.
If you want to read about a black woman and a white guy, you might want to read my short story, Would It Make You Happy?

Interracial? Female winners? Problem with SOL writers?
Take a look at Gettin' By But Lookin' Up and Opportunities by Dual Writer and then settle in to read his Florida Friends stories. He has created some great characters who come in all varieties of human beings in his stories of winners and lovers.
I don't have time right now to list other writers.
My series, Mike and the Energists has a fair amount of sports action (basketball, volleyball, softball, football, gymnastics). The sports action generally starts in Book 3 and continues through the end of the series.
