Family Volentin by Fick Suck looks promising although I've only read the beginning of the universe. It has a somewhat slower pace to the book which I found was balanced or by better technical skills in the writing than have force. The perspective generally remains locked to a more limited range of characters than in jade fitness. I would recommend it if you like combat elements of jade force, but not so much for a quick read. I have not read clan Amar so can't compare with that
Now I'm confused, I've been to Paris once in my life and while I was there I saw newspapers with the headline "Mao c'est mort". Without looking at a search engine, I'd guess that as having been late summer 1975 or late summer 1976.
Edit: 9-9-1976, or a couple of days later if the news took time to break - I think steamships had replaced sailing ships by then.
