The author exclusions piggybacks onto the filtering mechanism that implements category exclusions.
Your category exclusion preference is set to not filter any pages. The six pages that the filtering works on are all unchecked.
So in order for this to work, you need to go to the category exclusion preference page and check all the pages where you want this author exclusion preference to work.

Does the author exclusion work on just the name or the account? So if, lets say, you excluded an author and that author had three pseudonyms, do the other two pseudonyms get excluded, or just the one you exclude?
It works on the author's ID number. Not the account. So if one account has more than one pen name, only the pen name you specifically exclude is affected.
Yes, it rather devalues exclusion lists by not having them apply there. Something I used to do - and I don't know why I stopped - was to link directly to https://storiesonline.net/library/updated_stories.php with the occasional visit to "New Stories" from there.
Maybe the reason I stopped was so that I could see the Blog entries.
