How to view authors who are not Archived, but have Premiere Only stories?

inthegutter ๐Ÿšซ

In the "Alphabetical Author Listings" function, authors who've been Archived (Premier Members Only) are denoted by a different colored background for that table row. Would it be possible to somehow denote which authors have only some of their stories set as Premiere Only? Right off the top of my head, a good example of this is Lubrican.

It'd be nice to know if there are other authors who've done this without having to visit each profile individually.

Thanks.

Archived (Premier Members Only)

There's a difference between Archived and Premium Members Only. Archived is an automatic process where stories are archived after 5 years of no updates from an author. Premium Members Only is a choice authors can make for each individual story they post.
The only overlap is that the archive is only accessible for Premium Members.

I thought this could be useful too, and it could be displayed in the stories column by adding the count of premier-only stories in brackets, changing the column heading to 'Stories (Premier)'. For premier memners this would be another sort key, for basic members another link to the premier services page; also, if for archived authors the story count was blanked, leaving just the premier count in brackets, this would be an additional visual cue more obvious than the grey-white checking which disappears at the viewing angles I usually have my laptop at. However, I expect this will require a database change, so it won't happen until Lazeez has to change the database for some more important reason, if he decides to do it at all.

Besides Lubrican there area few other authors; the only one I can think of for the moment is Paul Phenomenon who has six, and good ones they are too.

ETA: IIRC, some of the archived authors had premier-only stories before being archived, but I don't think there would be any need to identify such stories.

Why?
What purpose does it serve, knowing that an author has *some* premier-only stories?

Someone without premier access browsing through the author list could avoid that author.

Contest entries are Premiere-only for a while, that would mean blanking all authors who enter contests. I can see the point of marking authors where *all* of their stories are "paywalled" but that is as far as it goes.
As to Lubrican, he has 279 stories on this site. Almost all of them are accessible with normal membership.

Or you can go to his website where they are all available.

Or it is an encouragement to try a Premium Membership, even if just for a month.

Why would you want to avoid reading the authors' who have accessible stories posted because the authors decided to list a few of their stories as Premiere-Only? If an author has 74 stories posted and 2 are Premiere-Only, then you would be missing out on the possibility of finding several very good stories to read amongst the 72 accessible stories.

That's what I thought, but if you go up a couple of posts in this thread you will see the OP saying:

...so I can look at them before my subscription expires. Seems entirely reasonable in spite of your response, which comes off as a bit hostile.

(and he was right about the "bit hostile", I wanted to see a justification of the work fulfilling this request would make for Lazeez)

What the OP is asking for helps avoid paying for premier, so I don't see a huge motivation for Lazeez to fulfil the request. But having known Lazeez for a long time, I'm almost sure that he would fulfil it at some point.

You may choose to believe that, but you're wrong.

Actually, what I'm asking for is intended to help me make the best use of my Premiere membership while it's still active. Unfortunately, my financial situation doesn't permit me to subscribe on a full-time basis (which I resent having to state publicly, especially since it's no one's concern but mine, but we can't have everyone thinking I'm a cheapskate - nope, just broke), so I wanted to be as thorough as possible while the opportunity existed.

Also, for the sake of clarity, I only mentioned Lubrican because he has a few stories that are Premiere Only, but not the entire lot. He was the only author I could think of that fit the criteria. That's it. Nothing nefarious intended.

Since this has turned into nothing but a fiasco, I regret asking in the first place. Lesson learned.

ElSol also fit that criteria. And DB_Story. And a few others.

The title of the thread and your initial post do not support what you are now saying was your actual intent. If this thread is a fiasco, then it is because you failed to express your intent in the title and initial post.

Actually, they do. The suppositions of others as to his motivation notwithstanding, the OP never gave any explanation other than wanting a way to identify authors who had written (at least some) premium-access stories, which would make sense as he could then locate such stories and download them more easily for reading after his paid period had expired.

You can't download Premiere stories after your Premiere membership expires.

Once he explained that he wanted the change because his Premiere membership would expire soon, his request made sense. By knowing an active author had some but not all Premier stories, he could try to download those stories before his membership expired.

What irritated me is, he appears to have labeled the thread as a fiasco because we didn't initially understand his reason for asking for the change and questioned his reason until he stated the reason.

I only meant for 'after premiere membership expires' to modify 'reading' not 'download for reading'. I thought that was clear. My bad.

I wouldn't, but then I pay for premier access.

@inthegutter

We'll see. This requires keeping a separate counter that needs to be kept up-to-date.

ystokes ๐Ÿšซ

Before I could afford the yearly rate I would pay for a month and download as many as I could.

For me it was an observation, not a problem.

Since you see it as a problem, perhaps you should think on why you don't view your failure to communicate as your problem.
