Request: An internal e-mail link for "Inactive Authors."

dchap1 ๐Ÿšซ

Late last month Vanessa Ravencroft passed. I attempted to notify the "Inactive Authors" site but the link to send a message tried to open an e-mail client on my computer. The computer I use to view this site doesn't have a configured e-mail client on it.

My request is to have a link that operates like the SOL internal e-mail. Maybe have it cash the message and flag the maintainers that there is a message in the que rather than blasting their e-mails directly.

Thank you.

The site is managed by REP who has a SoL contact mail on his story site

Thanks Ernie. However, I do not manage the ReadersInfo.net website. It is a group effort shared by Keet, TeNderLoin, and myself.

Also, TeNderLoin (he's a volunteer editor and has a link on that page) and keet are involved with the site and they're often involved in the forums as well.

I think it's a good idea to have a distinct link to message that site rather and then whichever site manager wants to can deal with the message rather than relying on having to email the individuals concerned (who may change over time)

The ReaderInfo.net email address is info@readerinfo.net as shown on the site. Clicking the link on the site is default web page behavior using the standard "mailto:" so nothing to worry about. You probably expected a form to enter an email message.

We were informed about the passing of Vanessa Ravencroft but so far we have no confirmation other than an email and a forum post on galnet.fandom.com. We are very careful before we 'pronounce' a contributer as In Memoriam.

On the surface, your idea of an email link sounds okay and a good idea.

However, after some consideration and discussion on the part of Keet, TeNderLoin, and myself, we decided to decline the creation of a ReaderInfo account.

One of the main reasons is, we contribute our time to the website without remuneration. We feel the additional time required to support an internal SOL email account in addition to our current website's email account would be an unnecessary burden.

If you or anyone wish to suggest a contributor be added to our website, please use the SOL link to our website, which is on the Home page in the Links section, or you can reach us directly by sending an email to info@readerinfo.net

If your concern is us misusing your email information, please read our privacy policy on the ReaderInfo website. Our policy is to not sell our email list to anyone and to not inform others about who we communicate with. If you do not trust us to provide you with anonymity, Keet and I check the 'What happened to โ€ฆ' posts. I have started dropping out of threads once they jump the track or are no longer of interest to me, but I do check all new posts in the Author Hangout, Story Discussion, and Bug Report sections of the Forum. Keet seems to follow posts longer than I do.

Thank you all for responding.
