Feature Request - button to disregard a thread

Ernest Bywater ๐Ÿšซ

The system currently keeps track of a thread where I've read all the posts and marks it as such. We also have a button where I can mark the thread as read. Is it possible to have a button I can click on and the system remembers that then automatically regards all future posts in that thread as read by me and show that thread as read for me from then on, please. That way I don't have to remember all of the threads I have no interest in, regardless of how old it is.

It might be better if the thread isn't displayed after the button is clicked.

True, but I don't know how much work that will need to make work properly. While what I've asked for is utilising two sets of code that's currently in use, just a way to activate it with a touch of code to have the button available.

Not really. You may not want to read new posts because the thread, say, went political, but you may want to go back to it to reference something earlier said so it needs to be visible.

The read/unread status and data is done in the browser. I'll see if it's not too complicated to do.

Of course, if he ever clears his cache or cookies, it will just pop back up again. Couldn't EB just write himself a note?

It's clear you've not seen my writing, and my printer don't work anymore.

Actually, he would have to clear his browser's localStorage database for the info to be cleared from his browser.

However, if you look at the bottom of this page, you'll see a link to 'Sync Read to Server' which allows you to backup this localStorage database to the server, and you can retrieve it with the link next to it 'Get Read From Server'.

It happens to me when I clear cookies/cache/history. I don't know what the localStorage db is so I don't purposely clear that. Clearing cookies is the first thing every Tech Support person has me do when I have a problem, and having all the threads back to unread status is a real pain.

Didn't know about those two links at the bottom.
