Bookapy links on SOL for authors/books

Keet ๐Ÿšซ

Ok, so I'm gonna throw a few rocks in the smooth, glassy water that SOL is (Poetic not? And I'm not even an author). This mainly concerns authors and premium members.
Now that Bookapy is online I noticed that there's nowhere on SOL that points readers to which authors have books on that site. Or what books for that matter. Just some ideas:

1 - Add a link on the author page to the Bookapy site if that author has one or more books on Bookapy. It should not point to the Bookapy home page but to a list of the books from that author on Bookapy.
2 - Add a Bookapy link for to each book on SOL that is also available on Bookapy. Always visible, which means also for non premium members.

Now some might say why buy a book if I can download it for free? The answer is simple: to support the author. I bought books on Bookapy that I already have in my personal Library. Just to support the authors. I don't even read epubs, only html. There must be others that can afford to do this and are willing to support their favorite authors.
A link to Bookapy for a book could also generate sales from non-members if the link was always available. Of course this should only apply to completed books.
The fact that ALL readers can see the name Bookapy in more places than just on the home page should increase name recognition, site visits, and most likely sales.

Any thoughts from Lazeez, authors, or readers on this?

Should it be the Bookapy or Bookapythe?

I'd agree with the automatic inclusion or the ability to manual inclusion of a link to the Bookapy author page or the Bookapy story page on the SoL, FS, and SciFi story pages and author pages.

Do I read it correctly that you think there might be authors who don't want links too Bookapy?

No. I'm just saying I'd like the facility to have an easy way to make the links, the method can be an automatic one or one where I have to enter the links, whichever is easiest for Lazeez to code. However, I don't want to have to repost a story just to include the link. I'd also like the process on all of the sites.

Ok, that's clear. But your remark made me think that it might be a little more difficult for Lazeez to create the links than I initially thought. Not the programming in itself, that should be pretty straightforward, but more about getting the correct links from Bookapy. I don't know how separate/integrated the sites are (the databases). And then there's a need for a link between different pen names between SOL/FS/SFS/Bookapy. You have the same name on both but, for example, Crumbly Writer on SOL is Vincent Berg on FS/SFS/Bookapy.

I didn't always, then I merged them. Also, I do have authority from some other authors to put there books out for sale for them and I'll eventually be putting them on Bookapy when I've the time.

A link to Bookapy for a book could also generate sales from non-members if the link was always available.

...especially if the link was present on the non-logged-in sample pages.

I would favor a link to Bookapy at the top of the Home page or on all Author's Pages. Probably the simplest for Lazeez to implement.

The author can always add a comment to the end note of current, future, and past stories stating that the story is available on Bookapy or to point readers to his Author's Page.

That already exists.

My understanding of what the OP and the supporting commenters are looking for is a link directly to the list of that author's books on bookapy, rather than a link to the bookapy home page.

Not on the homepage I see nor on my Author's Page.

Yes, it's on the SOL home page, right at the top of the links section on the left hand side.

"On top of the links section" is actually on the bottom left portion of the Home Page. There's a box titled "Links" which has links to Bookapy, Finestories, Lazeez's blog, etc.

Is html what we read on SOL?

A webpage (SOL) is HTML. However, so is an epub.

But an epub requires an e-reader (either a device like a Kindle or an app on your computer, iPad, etc.).

Yes. Also, most modern browser will correctly display a PDF and some will display an e-pub, but getting one of the many free e-pub readers like Calibre will give a better display of an e-pub and many other e-book formats.

When I read a story on my screen, to me it just acts like text. I can manipulate the story by increasing the size of the letters, or make what I think are minor proofreading fixes (typos/misspelled words, dialog tags, etc.) that make it easier for me to read. I can also insert notes to myself ("is this literally true or literary license?")
I don't think I can do the same thing to stories I buy from bookapy - can I?

@PotomacBob

Depends on the format you get and the software. With html most people code it in a way to allow the reader to adjust aspects like that, and the same is true for most people who create e-pubs. However, there are some who lock down those aspects, but most e-pub readers can override the coded settings.

With the e-pub reader I get with Calibre, and the two others I sue, I can adjust the font and letter size with ease. Also, with the edit function within Calibre I can change typos etc. and resave the file with the corrections.

Yes, SOL is a web site and what your browser displays is html. What I do is convert downloaded zips from SOL to my own html format and css in a custom library I build. That gives me 100% control. It also has the benefit that I can add little extras like tooltips, images, etc. and it's very easy to correct typos.
Epubs just offers limited possibilities depending on the ebook reader you use.

2 - Add a Bookapy link for to each book on SOL that is also available on Bookapy. Always visible, which means also for non premium members.

I've been working on these and both are available as of now.

From the story management page, there is a new button now to set the Bookapy URL for each story. The link will show at the end of the story.

From the account management page, in the pen name creation/editing form, there is a URL field for the author page on Bookapy.

Thanks. I see you solved the multiple/different pen names problem by letting the author set the Bookapy url. Ernest was fast to enter the urls but I don't see a Bookapy author page url on the SOL author page. I suppose he didn't set that yet or am I mistaking that the author has to add the urls himself?

ETA: After Michael Loucks' comment I now see the link on the author page. Great!

That's because I was so concentrated on the story links and when there was an issue getting them all done I forgot about the author link until I read this. Done. Thanks for the reminder.
