โ = deceased
R = retired
U = ill/unknown
(?) rumour and/or needs confirmation
The topic of a Memorial Page for deceased authors has been raised in the past.
I would consider your list as more of a Status Page than a Memorial Page. As far as the codes go, I would split ill/unknown into two codes: I and U. For those authors who are too busy with life intruding on their writing time, I would add L = life has intruded.

This is just a list I keep in my personal library. More a list of "where are they" then just a list of deceased authors. If an 'official' list is created here on SOL I agree with you that splitting in more codes is better.

@tendertouch
thanks, I updated my list.
It's sad to see that so many authors have passed on in just the last 5 years.
According to his profile Aeralyndal passed away in 2003. Someone must be keeping his account active as it still hasn't been archived.
The information about Andrew James Gordon is adjusted on the list. His status is unknown. His stories are not archived but his last post was almost 12 years ago so someone has logged into his account.
He is/was a teacher so maybe it's a "Don Lockwood" situation.
If anyone has an in with the mods, could they ask them if such list exists, if not, to ask readers if any of them is keeping such a list, please?
@Keet
your list is at least a start and better then I had which was zip

The main list is in the "Story Discussion and Feedback" forum, under the topic "Dead Authors".
However, it would be nice to have a specific SOL page readers could use to find out what's up with various authors, as Lazeez clearly has the "Active"/"Inactive" part already. Creating an "Author Status" page, with a separate field for 'date of death' and possibly another for codes ("R" (Retired)/"L" (Life Intervened) or "H" (for Hiatus) would resolve many common questions, and be an easy to find location for such information without putting an undue strain on the site to maintain.

List updated. This was first reported by severusmax: thread Dead authors
Looking at authors from a different thread I noticed that Barbe Blanche's profile indicates he died in March 2012

Yep. He also posted before his death, but not under his own name, as he didn't want his 'cancer brain' results to reflect on his earlier works. Unfortunately, I don't recall the pseudonyms he may have used. (Since we both started posted near the same time, and were writing about similar subjects, we conversed regularly, including reviewing new chapters and providing feedback.)

ogre1944.
Thanks, Samuel. I've always admired his work, but at the time, wasn't sure I wanted to compare it to what he considered his 'sub-par' work. Though, it might be interesting seeing how much of a discrepancy there was between the two.
Not deceased that I'm aware of but Janna Leonard is apparently permanently retired. In her last blog post she bid us all farewell and said that her physical condition is was deteriorating making it impossible for her to continue writing. Sad.
One name I haven't seen in a long long time is Warlord. Does anyone know if he is still around? I've half-expected to hear of his passing for a while now, it's been so long.
