Suddenly, a blank page

I was reading a story up for archival, it's not due to vanish for a few days yet, but when I got to the last chapter I got a blank page, and now the entire story is blank.

I've never seen this behavior before, and I'm fairly sure it isn't due to archive yet. Hoping it's just a glitch, I'd kinda like to finish it.

edit - I logged out, closed the browser and deleted cookies, and logged in again, same thing. odd

Having the same issue across the site. Can't open any chapter. Same issue on my PC and on my phone. Tried disabling VPN and ad blocker. Every chapter comes up blank page.

Interestingly, I can still open the "preview" partial chapter 1 when not logged in, even though I can't open chapter 1 while logged in.

I clicked your link and was able to open Chapter 1.

Don't know if that helps. I'm on a desktop running Windows 11.

I'm experiencing the same blank page problem as everyone else. If I load a page from an author before I sign in to my account, I can read that chapter up to the point that it tells me I need to sign in to read more. After that I get the blank page. This happens no matter what browser I use, or whether I clear cookies and browser history. It seems to be an issue once a user has logged in to their account. So what have you changed since yesterday that has promulgated this issue?

Every title I've tried opening is giving the blank page treatment. If I go back a screen on a tab with an open chapter story, the chapter list is now a blank page as well.

Using Firefox on iPad.

I'm seeing the same blank pages as those above. I'm using firefox on ubuntu in case it matters. I attempted log out and back in with no change.

Edit: Developer tools shows that I'm receiving a 500 error code.

Same for Firefox on Android. Blank page if logged in and trying to access any story. Logged out works.

Edit: tried in chrome as well. Same behavior. Bring logged in throws a 500 error

Same here on Safari on my iPad.

Same issue here, blank on multiple browsers.

Same here. Firefox (Tor browser) displaying blank pages for story. Maybe this has to do with the transition from URL of the form "/s/[storyid]:[chapterid]/[long-title]" to "/s/[storyid]/[long-title]/[chapterno]"?

Looks like issue is fixed.

Fixed for me now too.

Sorry folks.

By mistake, I uncommented the loader for some code that's not ready for production and pushed that code along with a couple of bug fixes to the live servers.

I didn't notice right away because only free accounts were affected. Usually the more complex code is on the premier side. Many times in the past I've screwed up access for premier members and not for free members.

I don't know what is it about today, but such stupidities have occurred before, but today's response is overwhelming in its volume and range of emotions expressed.

Hundreds of messages.

Some mourned the passing of SOL and wondered if I'm following in ASSTR's footsteps, others wept at being banned or blocked, others cussed me to hell because I failed to maintain the site or because they thought they were blocked. Although, most were decent bug/outage reports.

It was something to behold, that's for sure.

Anyway, sorry for any inconvenience or for ruining Sunday morning for some. I'll try to do better.

I have been here for over two decades. You are appreciated and the exceptional stability and low downtime of SOL is a credit to your dedication.

Agreed with marvn. Sorry on behalf of the freakouts. It's a shame that the freeloaders feel most entitled to go overboard.

Laz, you do one hell of a job with this site, please don't let this get you down. I hope I didn't contribute to the grief you caught - actually I'm always surprised when things DON'T go smoothly, because this site is consistently up and working just as expected. I doubt most users here have any idea just how hard that level of competence is to achieve. You should be commended, not criticized.

Thanks again for all your efforts.

For what it's worth, in all the years that I have participated with this site, the major errors I've experienced have been few and far between. If there have been problems I've reported them as factually as possible to provide the necessary information to help reveal the problem without unnecessary and irrelevant emotional baggage, as it doesn't aid in resolving the issue.

That said, entitled individuals are always going to vent when deprived of their "precious" so take that with a grain of salt.

Thanks again for providing this resource.
