How to post an interactive story?

I'm considering experimenting with an interactive story, but I Have Questions about the mechanics of how to post one. I've read through this thread already. My three biggest questions right now are:

When you said authors can "edit the description" to customize the text for the links, do you mean the chapter title, or what?

When you add a chapter, how do you indicate which previous chapter it branches from?

Are you limited to only two choices at the end of a chapter? (I can see wanting the options when a couple offers a threesome "Kiss her" & "Kiss him" & "Fuck this is too weird run away screaming.")

I haven't read the other thread, but when I read this one a question popped into my head.

How would you handle story codes if different alternatives of the story have different codes?

No logical way to handle this correctly. I guess the story would have all the codes for all the possible paths.

There is one way to keep the branches and sub-branches separate, but it can quickly become confusing for the writer and the reader.

Start the story (1). When the branches are inserted, create two new stories (1A and 1B). 1A and 1B can have different codes. Continue in this fashion until all branches and sub-branches are complete.

We're talking about 1 whole interactive story. Creating additional stories doesn't work.

Chapter title and link text.

Yes.

No limit on the number of branches from any chapter. But the links can only be at the end.

Lazeez, can you 'hide' the story from readers whilst it's in progress?

It seems to me that the easiest way to write it, would be to write it in chapters, publish and link the chapters, and grow it from there. However, at first this would be difficult to read and enjoy if only a few posts are available. Hiding it whilst it's being created would make life easier for the writer as I doubt many here have the organisational capability to have it all planned out and written before posting (I certainly don't!).

I actually like the idea of writing something along those lines of a 'chose your own adventure' but the administration required appears to be horrifying.

I see the very first chapter being short and ending with the choice's "You are female" (go to x) "You are male" (go to y) "You are a toaster" (go to z) etc etc...

Just had a thought, is there any way for the system to record the choices made by the readers? ie 20% of readers chose option A, 40% chose option B, etc etc. Basically a way for the creator to see what choices proved popular, and what were ignored?
