This has been driving me nuts. Years ago there was a (I suspect) compilation of vignettes where this guy accidentally invents a FTL drive and visits three planets. One is ruled by old folks - really old. Another by descendants of a guy named Jones, all redheads.
This was a commercial publication I read in a library.
