spells refined on computer

XofDallas ๐Ÿšซ

I should know exactly where to find this, but all of my searches are just not finding it.

Young man somehow comes into possession of a book of spells, but the spells require great accuracy to cast them correctly. He programs his computer to cast the spells with great precision, making them much more powerful. Winds up controlling his sister, mother, and a few other girls.

Two stories in series. In the second one, a society of wizards detects him and sends an assassin.

This sounds like a Master PC type story or an "unofficial" variant in a separate but similar setting like some "SWARM" stories have an "official" universe but I have read some inspired by the setting being very similar but being different enough that they are separate.

This triggers some vague memory that I might have read this one but I think it was on another site or maybe an author site.

Possibly "A Modern Day Mage" by Vax. The first story is The Touch.

@samuelmichaels

It is indeed "The Touch" and "The Sight." What screwed my category search up was that it didn't use magic as one of the codes, even though both stories involve spells. In addition, the term "Mage" appears in the title to the universe, but not either of the stories.

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Always important to remember that Lazeez adds new codes over time, but even if an author is still active they rarely add new codes to old stories.

Also, the Magic tag was originally in the consent level group and at least some authors treated it specifically as magic based mind control.

I didn't know Magic had moved. I didn't use it for one of my stories for precisely that reason. I suppose I'd better try to find it so I can recode it :-(

Yeah, a few authors said that they wanted a tag for magic not related to sex, so Lazeez moved the Magic tag to the Paranormal group rather than create a second magic tag.

There was a story ages ago, possibly late 90s or early 2000s, called "Dragonseekers". It was originally by Net Wolf but never completed. Later an author named Ice Phoenix rewrote/ completed it.

The story involved a guy setting up a computer RPG only to find himself, his friends, and their sisters transported into the fantasy world of the game. The sisters were subservient to and in love with their respective brothers due to the effects the game. After completing the quest the protagonist returned to our world with the ability to cast spells.

Not the same story, obviously, but might be of interest if you can find it. Unfortunately I last found it a decade ago on a site which is no longer at the address I had.

This style of GameLit / Portal Fantasy was fairly popular in the 80s and early 90s in published fantasy, so there are probably a bunch of erotic stories around too. It's just an issue of identifying and finding them.

I will look it up. Away at a renfaire this weekend, so I'll have to come back to it. Good thought. Shaddoth has done at least 3 like that as well.

I've heard that before, but I'm pretty sure NetWolf and Ice Phoenix are different authors. One of the files I have has the following authors' notes (long, but I'm putting it in for completeness):

Authors' Notes:

I started this story some months ago. It came, originally, from an idea dreamed up by some of the members of the old Wolfpack. The version of this story I started to write also had a lot of developmental help from Top_Quark.

When I departed the Internet, I had to think long and hard about what to do with my stories. I decided that there were some I just had to have finished. This is one of them. I know that Ice Phoenix has planned to do the story differently than I was going to, but that's okay by me. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I know I will.

I wrote the Prologue and the first three chapters. Everything after that is Ice Phoenix's work. He deserves the credit for this story: it's not really "mine" now. I'm sure he'll do an excellent job with this story. Please give him all the encouragement and support you would have given me writing this story.

Net Wolf

Net nearly had to twist my arm to get me to write this story. I'm not fond of being directly compared to someone like him, and there is no more direct comparison than having to finish up something he started.

Net Wolf encouraged me to rewrite the portions he'd already done, but I decided to leave these intact. You, the readers, deserve the best version of the work available, and that would be his version.

I hope that I can be a worthy successor to Net Wolf, though no one can replace him. I also hope you enjoy the story.

Ice Phoenix

Under his bio on his site he claims these pen names:

WhiteStar: July, 1997 - December, 1999

Net Wolf: January, 2000 - April (approximately), 2002

Ice Phoenix: April, 2002 - December 2003

Net Wolf: January, 2004 - December, 2007

Eric Storm: January, 2008 - present

I had found that as well, it makes those Author's Notes look a bit weird. Did he post (or say) something as Net Wolf he no longer wished to be associated with?

marwood2013 ๐Ÿšซ

@Dinsdale

He changed his name to Eric Storm shortly after he left ewpub, another site he started (doesn't exist anymore) and started up his current site I have no idea why he's used so many different pen names

If you as an author want to make a clean break in your live and literary work and therefore change to another pen name, how would you handle the continuation of the one story you really care about?
He created this ruse in the Author's Notes about Net Wolf(his old pen name) letting Ice Phoenix(his new pen name) continue the story. He obviously wanted โ€“ back then โ€“ nobody to know he's still writing but under another pen name!
This is just a guess, but it would also explain the later switch-back to "Net Wolf":
He changed his writing style, hadn't the success he expected, abandoned "Ice Phoenix" and went back to "Net Wolf".

HM.

Other authors maintain multiple pen-names, although RWMoranUSMCRet takes it to ridiculous extremes - 18 months ago he said he had 20 pen-names, 8 of them female. (That was in a Blog entry in May 2022).
Multiple personality disorder.

I believe Limnophile also has a few, my guess is nine total.
Pixy and Severusmax appear to each have three additional pen-names.
I can't imagine Cully-Boy Castleberry and russell-ville-man are not the same person.
There's another author - now also pretty much dormant - that appears to use eight names.

Rachel Ross (rache) has many.

I publish under a different name than posting on SOL so my author name on Bookapy is different than on SOL (S.W. Blayde and Switch_Blayde, respectively). So when the novel appears on both, they are listed under different names.

Something she did which I found pretty annoying at the time, she conducted a flame war between two of her 'nyms. One of them was God of Porn, the other one was probably Rachel Ross.
This was in their respective blogs. I'm not sure if SOL had the "unified home page" it has nowadays (I think it did) but the war was high-profile-visible anyway.
41 pen names? Seriously? We're up in "50 ways to leave your lover" or "99 First Dates" (Stultus) territory there.

After she died, her brother-in-law Peter said

Any other pen names she may have used in the past may be considered inactive and I'm working with the site owners to consolidate a number of stories and eliminate some of the older pen names. This does not include the Just Plain Jane stories or the work in progress by Milk Bunny. Those pen names and stories will remain as they are.

See https://storiesonline.net/ablog/Rachael_Ross, the blog entry entitled "The Queue".
He also mentioned a "Kylie X" nym but that does not exist on this site.
