Series of stories set in a small town where...

mrfriendly8181 ๐Ÿšซ

the main characters, for one reason or another, dislike each other. There was one where the guy was a deputy and the girl didn't like him at first. Pretty much was the same formula for each story, first they have an antagonistic relationship and then it is love. There were maybe 4 stories that were all linked by location and same background characters.
I really like stories with some friction/drama like this and wanted to reread them.

Argon's Clearwater series has three interlinked stories set in the one town. There is a deputy with a cheating ex that wants him back. https://storiesonline.net/universe/773/clearwater

Thank you! That's the ones...

The three stories in the Clearwater Universe are all about redemption and overcoming traumata, and they play, at least partly, in the fictional town of Clearwater, Montana.

@Argon

Are you going to write more of them? Please? They were exactly what I look for in stories. Thank you!

I am about 2/3 done with the story of Ricky Ryder, mentioned in the Clearwater stories, but also appearing in Suddenly Rich Kid. Another story about one Tess di Rosa might cross over with Clearwater Characters โ€” Janet Running Elk mostly.

That's awesome, I really like both of those universes. Honestly, I haven't read anything else you've written besides them because I am not a fan of historical stories. They could be the greatest thing ever and I just can't get into them. That's all on me though.

You should read his short story "One Gold Eagle" set in 1906 San Fran. earthquake.

That is fantastic news. I didn't pick up on the Ricky Ryder crossover between Clearwater and Suddenly Rich kid. I'll go back and read both, but which Clearwater story was Ricky in?

I am still writing that story; as I wrote, 2/3 done.

News of a new Argon story makes this a good day ... I've read everything, posted so far, including "Anthony Carter Universe" -- Twice! Hoping the Carter series will eventually carry through WWII Definitely one of the top ten authors here! Thanks for all the enjoyment!

I'm not expecting Anthony Carter to include WW2 but there is a story in that Universe which was set at around the time he wrote it - Return From The Dark Side.

There was, at one time, a series of stories on SOL by H20wader, set in Small Town (somewhere in the South; I recall that one of the stories had an alligator in it). None of the H20wader stories still on SOL is from that universe. I believe many of the same characters appeared in most of the stories. I do not recall whether the characters had the hate/love relationship you remember.

Argon

"Argon is a chemical element with the symbol Ar and atomic number 18. It is in group 18 of the periodic table and is a noble gas.[6] Argon is the third-most abundant gas in the Earth's atmosphere, at 0.934% (9340 ppmv). It is more than twice as abundant as water vapor (which averages about 4000 ppmv, but varies greatly), 23 times as abundant as carbon dioxide (400 ppmv), and more than 500 times as abundant as neon (18 ppmv). Argon is the most abundant noble gas in Earth's crust, comprising 0.00015% of the crust.

Nearly all of the argon in the Earth's atmosphere is radiogenic argon-40, derived from the decay of potassium-40 in the Earth's crust. In the universe, argon-36 is by far the most common argon isotope, as it is the most easily produced by stellar nucleosynthesis in supernovas.

The name "argon" is derived from the Greek word แผ€ฯฮณฯŒฮฝ, neuter singular form of แผ€ฯฮณฯŒฯ‚ meaning 'lazy' or 'inactive', as a reference to the fact that the element undergoes almost no chemical reactions. The complete octet (eight electrons) in the outer atomic shell makes argon stable and resistant to bonding with other elements. Its triple point temperature of 83.8058 K is a defining fixed point in the International Temperature Scale of 1990.

Argon is extracted industrially by the fractional distillation of liquid air. Argon is mostly used as an inert shielding gas in welding and other high-temperature industrial processes where ordinarily unreactive substances become reactive; for example, an argon atmosphere is used in graphite electric furnaces to prevent the graphite from burning. Argon is also used in incandescent, fluorescent lighting, and other gas-discharge tubes. Argon makes a distinctive blue-green gas laser. Argon is also used in fluorescent glow starters."

I'm versatile, what can I say. 'Lazy' fits, too.

Any story from Argonz I'll read. I've enjoyed them all.
