Ike Blacktower Stories

Spoiler Ahead!!!

So I'm thinking of reading the Ike Blacktower series and something quirky about me is that I read the last chapter before I start a series. I did for this and in the last chapter, his kids got him captured and tortured but they had their reasons and did it so he could accomplish something. I'm just wondering if this series is for me, I like more romantic stories with the characters caring for their SO's and family. Would this be something I'd enjoy reading? What his kids did makes me skeptical.

You are not alone in that, as I'm noticing a lot of people do that with my posts these days. Sixty three more people have read chapter eight than chapter seven of my latest, four more people have read chapter eight than chapter six... And yet the whole lot was uploaded in a oner... This has me admittedly wondering if the middle was weak or if people weren't really interested in the story in the first place and just wanted to see how it ended.

I think you mean accesses, not people. IIRC one person can access a chapter on multiple occasions and each of those accesses is counted in the chapter's download count.

Oner?

All chapters together, not as serial.
In this case you would expect the chapter-wise download count would slightly decrease because some readers stop reading after the first few chapters. The last chapter might then get some more downloads, but not exceeding those of the first because some disappointed readers might skip to the last chapter to see if it gets better before stop reading.
If the last chapter gets more downloads than the first this indicates IMHO readers who only download the last chapter to vote for the story they haven't read, most likely 1-bombers. A few 10-fans might do the same to ensure the author gets their high vote immediately and then read the story when they have time.

HM.

Exactly. And put forward more eloquently than I could have managed.

You dont know if the entire chapter was read. The website counts it as read when the reader double-click past the "human" test.

Perhaps the story description or tags cause the potential reader some concerns?
-does it end happy?
-does it end tear jerker?
-is it complete?
-did the author run out of ideas and just slap a "and they lived happily ever after"

These might be what I look for, each reader might have many different reasons.

I enjoyed the first one (Second That Emotion) more than the second, but even the first one has quite a bit of drama.
