Sage Mullins 'Lightning in a Bottle' is a great story. Then there is Al Steiner's Intemperance series. Both are among my favorites

I just finished both of the Intemperance stories. That was exactly what I was looking for, thank you for the recommendations! Hopefully he comes back at some point to finish the series!
I cannot recall the author, and it's not quite coming of age, but I found "These Girls Can Play" a good read.
