An actual 2nd POV story

REP 🚫

Occasional Writer posted Train Ride today. The description said it was a 2nd POV story, but I was sceptical. Most of the stories with that code are not 2nd POV stories.

I was pleasantly surprised that this story was 2nd POV and not just a story where the narrator used 'you' and 2nd person verbs. Occasional Writer did a very good job of talking to readers about them being a character in the story and what they feel, think, and do as the character. Well worth a read. https://storiesonline.net/s/25005/train-ride

Kuddos to Occasional Writer.

I was slightly curious when I read his blog post. Your post here increased that enough that I will check it out.

Thanks for the recommendation. I didn't really find the POV any advantage over first person or third person limited. I didn't feel like I (the reader) was the character in the story. Rather, I found it a bit cumbersome or awkward. My feeling is that the reader can become just as immersed in a character through either first person or third person. In fact, first person, it seems to me, puts the reader even closer to the character than does second person. "You" invariably requires some bit of translation. But a good effort and a good story.

True. Writing an entire story in 2nd POV can be difficult, and they seem to be very rare.

I did a search on the 2nd POV code and it found 170 stories coded 2nd POV. I checked a random sample of the stories, and none of those I checked were written in 2nd POV.
