Not being PC, but just in general

samis ๐Ÿšซ

The following is from one of a favorite authors here on SOL. Please read and comment on if this is "racist" or be classified as a "general observation". I AM NOT wanting a flame war. Just general comment. Thanks.

"It's Steve, Hans. What is happening is that I would like to increase the size and productivity of our German plant. They have not been able to produce the quality or quantity the other plants have. I was thinking it would take a German to inspire the Germans. I know your work ethic and I know how you pride yourself following my perfect principles. How would you like to run our German plant for a while to see how you like it?"

There was a pause that was so long, I was thinking I had lost the connection. Finally I heard Hans clear his throat and say, "This is no joke, right? You are asking me to go home to Germany and still work for S&S? You want me to be the boss of the plant in Germany and make it bigger and more productive? Is that right?

I could hear the strain in Hans' voice. "This is no joke, Hans. When I was trying to think who I could have take over and inspire an operation there, you were first in my mind. Would you like to try to run the place for S&S?"

"Yah, yah, I do, I will, yah, I want to do this. I want to make your plant in my home country the best in the world. I know to do that. A good German wants his work to be the best and to produce the most. I know how to do that."

Or a good business decision. Putting an American in charge of a German business would not be a good idea unless the American was fluent in the German language and familiar with the customs of Germany.

Someone should have told that to Adolf before he tried to take over the world with his master race - it might have prevented WWII.

Actually, the master race for the Nazis was Aryan not German. As I understand it as they defined Aryan, much of the German population at the time, including Hitler himself didn't qualify, and much of the populations of the the Northern European countries did.

Ah, the fantasy of the Aryan Race and Nation. Created around the mythology of the Indo-European Language Group and shared (fragmented) mythologies.

Too bad for those Aryan pretenders that while science, in the form of Y-DNA testing has found a genetic basis for such a theory. The awesome Germanic peoples are mostly R1B. The Persians, The Hindu, and the "Inferior Slavic populations" are R1A, and not R1B. Oops. R1B isn't even particularly dominant in Sweden or Finland(R1A is present in equal/greater numbers). Oops again. (Norway is a different matter)

Plenty of R1B in Italy, France, Spain, the British Isles and Germany though... Although R1B has only been in those areas for about 4,000 years. =P

Still fun to watch the people carrying the torch of a certain group of Germans trying to reconcile things with their new reality. Particularly when you get into the matter of R1B being very common among "Hispanic" males because of Spain.

Racist? Seriously? That would mean Steve, the US citizen, and Hans, the German, have interracial intercourse via phone.

AmigaClone ๐Ÿšซ

I could see some individuals I know or know of of seeing this scene and accusing Steve of not only being racist but also sexist.

Granted, that is a reflection of their attitudes more so than that of the scene itself.

No, but it's possible that the plant management were French, which would be a national insult to the German workers, or simply incompetent German managers. In which case the good German workers simply have bad managers.

There is nothing wrong with appealing to someone's sense of national pride, especially in a multi-national corporation.

It is also possible the plant management were vegan transgender trappist monks.

Neither possibility is mentioned, so basing your objection on a guess isn't exactly advancing anything.

As you well know, Richard is a fine traditional British name, harking back to Richard the Lionheart and beyond.

And centring yourself is one of the prime objectives of many Eastern spiritual disciplines, yoga for example.

So I take 'self-centred dicks' in the spirit in which you obviously intended, as high praise ;)

Having read his explanation for the photo, I think it's quite funny. No, that's not what evolution says. Humans share a common ancestor with all other members of the primate family. To say we are descended from monkeys or apes is like saying we are descended from our third or fourth cousins instead of saying our distant cousins share a common set of great-great-grandparents with us.

If you shake the family tree, I think you'll find that monkeys and apes are less highly-evolved than humans, so our common ancestor would probably identify as a monkey or ape, even though presumably extinct.

Its not racist or nationalistic. Hans has been with the company for some time and is a proven worker with a love of the "Is it Perfect" policy of the company. It helps that he is also German.
The problem is that plant was under performing with products that did not meet company standards. Germany after asking them to open a plant there now wanted them to lower their standards. Something Hans most definitely will not allow.
