I gave it a great (9). The top and bottom 5% of scores are removed before the average is calculated. You probably knocked me into outlier territory.

He probably got a number of lower scores from when you previously checked and the time you clicked Vote.
I've noticed that when a story has few votes, weird things happen when my vote is well off the average. BOTH ways. I can only think it has something to do with Laz's insistence at dropping the extreme votes. Would take some analysis of actual data to demonstrate one way or another. Which I don't have. (hint, hint, Laz :) )
