Favorite lists count

Hi all,
Not sure where to post this question, since there's no "site questions" forum area, but just to be sure:
1. My favorites list count says 4 / 1. What does this mean in terms of how many people favorited me as an author? I guess the 4 is the number of favorites I have on my favorites thus far, and 1 is how many people favorited me? Of course I'm sure if this was available to free users it'd be higher than that lol.
2. Once a story reaches 500 KB, I essentially get free premium service for life?

There's a couple of useful information resources at SoL. The FAQ is first. then there's the Webmaster link at the top right of most Sol pages.

On the website there are a couple of different Favorites stats kept. The main ones are on the Author Stats page. One titled 'The Favorite Authors Count has a note has a count with a notes number beside it which states - "The Favorite Lists item tells you how many premier members/authors have you in their library as a favorite author."

When your qualifying story count reaches the 500 KB you get a premium account, but it's more than just the story size used to calculate the figure. It says - "This number is the size of text qualifying for premier service. If it is over 500, then you should be getting premier service on the site, or you will after your next post. It's calculated from the regular size and the score. Better quality stories are worth more. Stories with multiple authors are divided among all the authors."

Any idea if this only relates to original stories, or whether someone could end up with premier membership due to posting something downloaded from Project Gutenberg?
(Since I know Lazeez reads the threads he can quietly close this loophole if it exists).

It only applies to original works you have the copyright for. If you post a story that's public domain or belongs to another you don't get the credit for it. There are some public domain stories posted under the names of the original authors, but there's no free account credit for it if they're dead. I think Lazeez is the one who posts those stories.

Related to that, if you get caught posting a story that's another's copyright Lazeez usually deletes the story or transfers it to the real copyright holder if they ask him to do so. Also, you get a strike towards having your account killed and being banned if you post plagiarized stories.

The system that grants free memberships is sophisticated enough to account for such cases. If a person posts a public domain story, then they get no credit for it, it counts as zero.

If somebody is caught posting other authors' works without permission, then they're warned for the first two times and the works are transferred to the original poster if they wish so or deleted. After a second strike the person is banned from posting.

I have noticed that even the public domain stories posted on FS have the original author's name. In my opinion that highlights how ethically the system works. As a reader thank you for the honest system you and your moderators try to maintain.
