Beyond the Far Horizon

stevee ๐Ÿšซ

I notice that we are getting stories that were originally on BtFH. Is there a way to find which stories are being posted? I'm aware of Asa Strong and Bruce Bretthauer(Prince von Vlox). Who else?

AmigaClone ๐Ÿšซ

@stevee

Stories by Gina as well.

I'm following Gina Marie Wylie's 'Kira at Tanglewood'. It seems to mention a lot of backstory. Is it a sequel to a previous story?

I believe it is, and "Tree Symphony" has not been posted yet.

For Tree Symphony, see the big river site; I don't think it was on btfh when it went away, so won't be coming here.

Gina Marie Wylie's 'Kira at Tanglewood'

I've belatedly (thank you, flu - NOT!) just caught up with the final chapter.

I find it hard to understand the acclaim bestowed on Elgar's Cello Concert. It's a good piece and I listen to it quite often for relaxation, because it doesn't stir my emotions. It has some great themes, although stitched together by schoolboyish transitions. And I agree with critics who reckon it should be labelled 'unfinished'. To quote one, it doesn't have a proper ending - it's as though Elgar suddenly stopped writing.

Who is more out of step with the universe, me or Gina Marie Wylie? Has anyone here burst into tears on hearing the concerto?

Sounds like some of our authors.๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

Were the stories written by the people posting them on SOL. We already found a new poster apparently committing plagiarism by copying another author's story and changing the title before posting it to SOL.

@stevee

The plan is to post all of them.

There is already plenty of overlap. But whatever is not on SOL will be posted.

How about a new tag, btfh, for stories that you cross-post? It would inform people where the stories are coming from, reassure them they are legit (if only you can use the tag), and help people find them.

@solitude

What's the point? People who visited BtFH in the past will know (or have ignored) the authors, and will probably have read the stories. For people who don't know them, the stories are new anyway.

@Dinsdale

If someone didn't download copies from BtFH, the tag would help them find the stories they liked again.

Also, BtFH didn't have a good search function so people could easily have missed stories posted there.

This. Also, author names can differ on the two sites. And the last incarnation of btfh did not support downloading as well as previous versions, so I tended to reread online. (I tried to do a site scape when it was dying, but ran out of time.)

Thank tou Laz - I thought Asa Strong's works were gone for good. I just wish more authours would do the same (KPelle is one that springs to mind)

KPelle's stories are still up on his own site, but it's been something like five years since I last saw any signs of life from the man himself.

Are the numbers the number of stories already moved here or what?

Replies:   Dinsdale

@DBActive

Very much "or what", the numbers represent the story counts on BtFH.
Take Wes Boyd for instance, none of his stories have made it from BtFH to here and I can't imagine that changing. If his remaining stories do make it to these sites it will be because the rights holders (his heirs) have permitted it - probably letting his own site lapse at the same time.

The numbers represent the storycounts reported by BtFH, but these are not accurate - e.g.,

Bruce Bretthauer & Colin Keizer (2),

reports two but has/had only a single story posted. Note also that a few of Wes Boyd's stories were not posted on BtFH

Thank you so much Gauthier. I had forgotten the names of so many of the fine authors. This will be a big help!

Wow people. Thanks for all the responses!

Tree Symphony is also available on Audible. The narration, though is AI.

Several of Gina Marie Wylie's unfinished stories like Kinsmen of the Dragon have been posted. Are they to remain unfinished?

Given Gina's declining health I severely doubt it.
