Ok, so I will be straight up, I haven't read more than a few paragraphs of this story mostly because I am confused. It is supposed to be set in the Anthony Carter Universe which I love but the CIA is mentioned very quickly in the story. Is this story actually a part of the universe as advertised or is it in there accidentally?
it is part of the universe but a generation or 3 in the future. Henry, the male mc, is the spanish ladies son if I remember right, I can't remember her name though...

The story is set in the early 2000s; none of the original characters is alive anymore, but they are mentioned and their lives still impact on their descendants. The double barrelled flintlock pistols have been superseded by automatics and no men o'war feature, but Henry Ruiz-Costa is still a fighting man, if a bit more shady than his noble forebears.
Ok that makes so much sense! I got confused with the different eras in history. Thank you for clearing that up!

Not quite true. It has Klepper folding kayaks, more suited to action on the upper reaches of the River Thames than any 6th Rate.
Unless you specifically read the series for the naval battles (which admittedly are great fun), keep reading. It was an excellent story.
