Happy New Year, everyone.
I thought Covid would be behind us, but no such luck. But at least we're all still here happily reading and writing and chatting and arguing. What more can one ask for?

I wish the writers of 2020 had better signaled that it was the first volume of a trilogy. I would have approached it differently had I known.

I would have waited until it was finished. Let's hope it's finished soon, even if not properly edited yet :D
All the best wishes to all Readers, Authors, Proofreaders, Editors, and Lazeez and the rest of the SOL staff.
Let's hope it's only a trilogy and not a long seemingly endless serial.
I don't see an imminent method of wiping Covid off the map :-(
Perhaps someone will come up with a vaccine made from de-activated virus that will confer decades long immunity like the measles jab. But I suspect it's more likely to be an annual booster, like the flu jab. Which is better than one scenario I read about - a booster every ten weeks.

I know how we could wipe where it originated off the map.
Also ... and I'm going to sound heartless here ... in the grand scheme of things, from a racial perspective (as in, the human race), it's not been that big of a deal. We live with bigger risks every day. I'm not sure when we decided that we needed to all become the boy in the plastic bubble.

They're looking at the common parts of the virus across all the variants. They think if they create a vaccine for that it will work. If it does, they can do it with the flu too instead of guessing which variant to create this year's vaccine for.

Because it likely doesn't exist. It's fad more likely it will go the way of the flu. Never truly going away.
I vote that we move "Bah, Humbug!" from Christmas to New Year's Day.
Seems more appropriate for 2022.

Considering it's already the 3rd of January, wouldn't that have to be the other way around at this point?
