Question about tags

BarBar ๐Ÿšซ

For those who've been following my current story The Dilemma, I currently have it tagged with "light bondage". I've been told off previously for failing to tag something like that. The only real tying up that occurs is in chapter 5. Do you people think that situation deserves the tag? I'm too close to the story and can't think straight about this. Your advice would be appreciated.

IIRC the tying up isn't sexual in nature, so I would vote against a bondage tag.

ETA:
I forgot that the scene was accompanied by a bare-buttocked spanking. IMO that might be perceived by some as erotic domination but I saw it as rather innocent so I'm still marginally against the light-bondage tag.

"light bondage" can be very illuminating...

Before coding for bondage, light or otherwise, I'd consider how an enthusiast would react to your description, if it is just a single, non sexual scene they are going to feel cheated, so I'd skip the code.

This has been previously discussed extensively. Most of the tags are 'squick', elimination tags. Those are predominantly sexual stereotype tags, like "BBM" or "Watersports". If your usage doesn't fit into that usage, then there's no sense listing it. Case in point, if you write a story with one white and one black character, there's no need to label it "Race" or "Black".

Also, if a tag only is only referenced once, listing it will only disappoint those LOOKING for those squicks. As such, rather than adding the tag to the story, I'd instead tag the Chapter, warning readers about what's in the one chapter, including whether it's a necessary portion of the total story, or can be safely skipped (i.e. without losing track of what's happening).

Which is what I said...

Are you replying too the correct post?

No matter what you do people will complain. Some authors code to attract readers, some to warn reader, and some do both. There will always be someone out there who will find something they feel should have been coded, and others who don't feel something deserved a code.

Code your story the way you feel is right. When I'm evaluating a story to decide if I want to read it, a long list of sex code is a turnoff, especially in a relatively short story.

I assume that was about the "Tara Abuse" scene in Bec where Tara's mother (Louise) had her tied up, unless it was about the scene which triggered it where Laura tied Bec up.
Someone complained about that here but I think they thought Bec's father (Peter) was the one behind Tara's punishment. Bec actually stopped the punishment by pointing out that Peter would have gone ballistic if he had found out about it.
I never even saw that as bondage in the first place.
