Serendipity!

Today I was on my morning walk here in the frozen north. As I approached a bus shelter, a bus stopped and a bunch of people came off the bus.

The last one off was a very beautiful young woman. She turned away from me and proceeded to her destination, but as the bus took off, a strong gust of wind lifted this beautiful woman's long skirt revealing, for about a whole second of time, her long shapely legs, encased in a pair of stockings held up by garters and her round ass decorated by the flimsiest of G-strings.

In a dreary, cold place, the unexpected and totally out of place, brief flash really made my morning. I would thank her for making my whole month, but I wouldn't want the slap that my words would surely elicit.

I'm now trying to think of a way to incorporate this scene into a story.

Have some real world short scene ever made it into a story of yours?

Yes, my story "Dressing Room Curtain." I was sitting outside the dressing rooms waiting for my wife and saw a crack in a curtain. A very pretty woman was changing. I got to see plenty which inspired the story.

Yes, I often draw on my real world experiences.

In my Opening Earth Part 2, I have a scene demeaning 5-star restaurants. The scene is almost an exact telling of the evening my wife and I had at a restaurant in Cupertino, CA. The restaurant is now out of business and the only part of the scene that may not be true is the restaurant reviewer receiving a big bribe to give the restaurant 5 stars.

Based on our dining experience (i.e., our waiter repeatedly tell us we were eating in a 5-star restaurant, poor ambiance, poor service, and being served cold, mediocre food), the restaurant didn't deserve a single star.

ETA: Minor edit to clarify it was my wife and I who ate at the restaurant.

I would be hard pressed to pick out one incident over another to write about.

A couple of parts of the scenes and conversations in the first two stories of the "The Freya Cycle" are exact and almost word for word for what happened in real life.

I have entire stories based on that one brief moment. They are what make up life.

One of my fantasy stories was a Halloween piece where the guy is with a woman when her kid wakes up with a nightmare. The guy persuades the kid that the monster won't eat her, because the guy is downstairs and would make a much bigger meal. (Then the monster does break in, post coitus, and eats the guy and the woman.)

Almost all of that is true life. That is to say that I did deal with a kid who was afraid of a monster by telling him that the monster would rather eat me. The monster didn't eat me, and there was no sex -- licit or illicit -- involved, but most of the story was true.
