You're always welcome here, just watch your step. We sometimes get a bit pedantic about language, and our discussions sometimes run a bit ... personal. If you see a thread heading down a sink hole (hint: you'll see an increased use of puns and juvenile jokes to alleviate the bad feelings) feel free to ignore the thread from there on out. Otherwise, we're a friendly bunch.

You'll notice we have a lot of regulars, we're almost all regulars, though only a couple of us publish (mostly independent publishers), so if you have questions about punctuation, grammar, syntax, English usage, story telling or the plotting of stories, feel free to ask.

If you're just getting started, I suggest you visit the "Editors and Reviewers" forum and read the lastest thread, as it provides very useful information about both finding and working with editors.

We're glad to have you. By the way, why not post a link to your story? The format (for SOL internal links, at least) is '< a href="link address">' (without the space—the SOL text processor goes nuts when it encounter an open angle bracket).

All are welcome here. Well, until they start flame wars, that is.

Be welcome and be at peace, but please be active.

so if you have questions about punctuation, grammar, syntax, English usage, ..............., feel free to ask.

and settle in for a weeks worth of discussion.
FWIW I've seen many many worse opening chapters and your spelling hasn't annoyed me - yet!

CW; why not just cut and paste the address from the story. Otherwise her name is in the Authors list; simple

As for grammar and word choice is a name IN a list or ON a list?

Good question. "His name shows up in a list of sexual offenders." "His name shows up on a list of war heroes." Is there a subtle difference?

It depends, is he having sex ON the list, or is the list IN her sex?

I have to welcome you to the site even if I am only a reader.

Do you sit in a chair or on a chair?
In a lap or on a lap?

Just giving @MsFoxxx a real welcome to this forum.

Sometimes? Wow, that actually made me laugh.

Oh, and to the OP, welcome to the insanity ... :)

MsFoxxx

@Crumbly Writer

Ok I'm a technological ignoramus. The story is called "Seducing the Boss". Don't know how to do the link..

@Switch Blayde

Do you sit in a chair or on a chair?

In a lap or on a lap?

IMHO that is reasonably easy.
If the chair is one of those wooden ones with a simple back then you are on it but if it is well upholstered and deep then you are in it because the arms are all embracing.
As for the lap the same rule applies - you are on it.

Both are correct. Regional differences. Write for the region the story is located in if you want to be precise.

Welcome to the party! I'll have to give your first story a pass, unless you meant swimming or canoeing with one of your categories. Simply not my cup o'tea (pun intended). Yet, we need new authors from all flights of love and life to keep SOL thriving and diverse. Have fun!

Swimming or canoeing in pee? That's even more disturbing than the ordinary water sports, and sounds more like the kind Trump appreciates (supposedly).
