I was perusing the Ongoing Serials - Top Downloads list this morning, something I do when I have a story on the list, when I noticed something odd. There is a story there with almost 3400 downloads, but a rating of 3.12.
Lesson learned - a lot of readers don't care about story ratings if the description and tags tickle their fancy or some other body part.
I think what has happened there, is that the story has been mentioned somewhere, probably about how bad it is, and people have flocked to it to see for themselves, just how bad it is.
True. I would never go by Download count, but rating instead. Someone mentions a truly awful story somewhere and everyone goes to look. It's like a traffic accident. Everybody in the opposite lane slows down to gawk at it.
