For the last week, author Vincent Berg in the hospital, without clothes, cash, computer or access to his stories. Diabetes DK due to pump failure and resulting heart concerns (markers only, so harmless).
He will return to posting whenever he figures out how to get home.
Thank you. I have been thinking about him the last few days. I've missed his forum posts the last few years. He brought a lot of excitement. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Jesus, remember, you think you've got it bad, there's always someone worse off. I really hope the guy does well.
He is, though he's certainly getting no smarter, all those insulin reactions, all those accumulated dead brain cells.
I have seen better days, but then, I just found at today, that four people just dropped dead at my mother's church and several old friends just died as well, which often happens during periods of economic stresses, and I've lost quite a few during each. So there's something to be said for simple perseverance.
Does Vincent Berg need a "Go Fund Me" or Venmo, to assist him in getting home?
Back during the extended government shutdowns attributed to Covid-19 I was stuck in a similar situation, mostly because of my State's governor. Luckily, I was able to get help from folks I know locally. But I was without a functioning computer for some nine months, and had issues with clothes and sundries.
A few authors up here in the Pacific Northwest have a loose network, and can assist each other. But most of us only interact via the web.
I would trust Laz as an intermediary if Vincent Berg were to need a little assistance. Some authors and others here have "Cup Of Coffee" of "Go Fund Me" etc. But not nearly enough of us.

A certain author told me about this discussion, so I thought I'd provide an update.
The issue was that, when I had the reaction, I was in bed, so when my 94-year-old mother called the ambulance, they apparently never bothered to grab as much as a sheet (for all the times I've ever been hospitalized, that's definitely a first).
So, no Venmo is needed, the issue was, I had no cash, no card and no wallet, and while my mother had someone (an 83-year-old friend) come by, she supplied me with a partially charged table with no charging cables (the whole family are mostly luddite, computer illiterates). So I mostly used the tablet to read the NY Times every morning, but of course, no hospital would allow me to access a potential 'porn site' to download stories to read.
However, it all worked out. The hospital is an excellent one, one I've been to many times (most related to getting an insulin pump and then a series to them going bad over the years). I'm now on insulin pens, which are a pain (I'd rather have the old plastic syringes, as they're easier to deal with.
But the ONLY thing I could do was to meander the hospital in my hospital gown, criss-crossing the floor I was on, which took all of 17 minutes. Talk about boredom!
I just post an extensive revision to chapter 6 today, and I'll post my normal chapters on Tuesday and Thursday.

My dad was taking insulin with the syringes for many years. I just started taking Mounjaro (an injection using an auto injector pen).
Yes, the pens are a bigger pain in terms of disposal, but my dad always had problems keeping a consistent dosage.
If your doctor wants you to have a precise, consistent dosage, the pens are better on that front.
That's fine, and my eyesight isn't what it once was, yet I've had repeated times when I using the pens, and they deliver nothing, or only a partial delivery of the necessary mediation, leaving me utterly unsure of how much I've actually received.
Again, I've NEVER liked the pens, yet before, they were at least more reliable than the current ones. I have no explanation for the difference, yet I prefer consistency over random guesswork in regards to my health.
That said, those with less extensive and severe medical issues often don't need to quite as cautious as I do, as every time I screw up, I … end up back in the emergency room!

When I was hospitalized I had the same problem till I found that if I sat in the floor lounge I could get McDonald WiFi who knew that fast food was actually good for somthing.

When I've been in the hospital, I've taken my cell phone and used my cell phone's wifi hotspot rather than the hospital wifi.
Yep, that's what you do when you have time to dress. Now, I'm preparing a 'to go' bag, so the next times, hopefully the medics will notice it. So, maybe a large "To-Go Bag" neon sign? ;)

Make sure your mom, or who ever else is around and might have to call an ambulance for you when you are out of it, knows about the to-go bag and can point it out to the EMTs.
