Not intending to disparage at all, but there tends to be two kinds of authors in here I have seen.
The first are those that tend to be more "story tellers", and are telling a story first and foremost. Granted most of them have varying kinds and levels of sex, but the story is the big interest.
Then the other is the more prurient, who are basically writing sex, with just a little story thrown in. Many do not even have much of a story, more than say one found in "Penthouse Letters". 5 paragraphs of lead-in, and 99 paragraphs of sex.
Myself, I have indeed had incest in my stories, but at the same time they are not "incest stories". In both of them (yes, two), neither of the characters involved was even aware it was incest at the time. The story was all about the actual story, the "incest angle" was a twist I had thrown in at the end.
I have also included "mind control" in at least one series, but once again not in a form that most interested in the kink would recognize as such. As each of those who discovered they had those powers then refused to abuse their use. Not unlike say the "Lucky Tickets" series. A great one in that genre, where the main character realized that their use could have dire consequences and largely stopped using their power other than as needed.
And to just be honest, the more prurient writers just do not seem to participate much in the forums. They are only interested in chasing their kinks, and not so much in interacting with others.
Of course, these are just my observations.

I can't prove it, but I believe there are many observing. Following the posts without responding.

Based on occasional forum references in emails received from readers of my stories, I would say you are absolutely correct. As to how many, I'm as clueless as you are. My guess is a larger number than most here would believe.

Absolutely. While I've posted several times, many threads I'm just curious about but have nothing to say.

Big laugh!
Seriously I don't want to feel more stupid than I know I already am. I guess since I can tell some of you are older then you just have more knowledge and experience about things.

As the great philosopher Forrest Gump said: "Stupid is as stupid does."
You're not stupid if you don't know something or make a mistake. That's how you learn.
Good point Mushroom! I have read a bunch of those 5 paragraphs setup + 99 paragraphs of sex stories and they've motivated me to be an editor more than anything else.
Also thanks for chiming in Switch & Daisy!

And I do not think most who write stories like that even really care about editors.
Myself, I do without, mostly because of many reasons. I now am careful at self-editing, and other than spelling mistakes and occasional transposing of names think I mostly post pretty clear stories now.
And many times I have things pointed out that really are not mistakes. Like how some of my characters speak in "bad English". Well, it's a quote or narration, they are going to sound like real people and not English majors. Done on purpose for narration purposes.
Plus, I tend to write ahead 3-5 chapters. And when I finish one I generally go back and edit my oldest in the que and edit it again then post it. Whenever that is, maybe the next day, maybe a week later. My writing tends to be somewhat sporadic. I may finish a chapter a week, then the next week be putting out 2 or more a day for days on end.
Myself, I admit I love the feedback in here with other authors. One place I used to publish at I only stuck around for the forums, for stories it was actually somewhat crap. But I even left that, as the forum became crap also.
