Save Option selections in Category Search

Switch Blayde ๐Ÿšซ

At the bottom of the Category Search there's a button to click "save search." I assume if I click that it will save the whole thing, like the tags I selected. That's not what I want.

I'm requesting a button in the bottom right of the Options box (or wherever you want to put it in that box) to save the checkmarks I chose. I always check all of them so it would be nice if it remembered that. I don't think a "select all" would work because someone else might always check some of them

Thanks for considering it.

You check ALL check boxes? That's a lot of check boxes and I'm not sure that the results are what you want.

@Keet

You check ALL check boxes?

Sounds like all those in the 'options' section, not EVERY tag.

@Keet

You check ALL check boxes?

Actually, 3 of them.

I don't check the first one to override exclusions because I don't have exclusions.

And I don't check the last one to read reviewed stories only.

When you save a search those options are saved as well...

But so is everything else I selected for that particular search.

I never used the "save search" but maybe I can do a search with the 3 options checked (but nothing else) and do the "save search." Then every time I come back to the Category Search those options will be checked. Then I can fill in the other stuff and do a search (but not the save search).

Anyone know if that will work? I don't want to try it because I don't know what happens when you click on "save search."

Your search settings are saved, you add a search name so you can find those settings again, then you can add another set of criteria and save with a different search name, easy and you can't break anything by experimenting.

Ok. I have a Saved Search labeled minimum. I have turned off scat and cannibalism and a BUNCH of other stuff. I also checked don't show incomplete. Then I saved. Now I can edit that saved search for robots, or do over, etc. I save it again and execute my search. Tomorrow I edit it again and I turn off the robots before adding harems.
This saves a lot of time, plus my finger is bigger than the buttons, so now I don't have to worry about sometimes clicking both include and exclude some option.

I just tried it. It doesn't do what I want.

I checked the 3 boxes I want SOL to remember and saved it, naming it "basic." What I would like to do now is bring up the search I named "basic" and add search criteria to it and then do the search.

But you can't do that. You have to edit the saved "basic" one to do the search. The next time around I have to undo those changes and put in other criteria. That's more work than simply checking those 3 items each time I do a search.

I would like to be able to save it and then, without editing it, bring it up and add to it. It's the latter that changes with each search.

It could use a 'Save As' button to create a new search.

I tried the feature and had a couple of different problems.

I saved a search that did not include a category selection. The search criteria was saved, but when I recalled the search and tried to execute it, I got a message saying a category was required. That message should have appeared when I tried to save my search.

I added a category and saved the revised search. When I executed the search with 20 results per page, I got 30 results. Page 1 was results 1-20, Page 2 was 21-30, and I got a page 3 which was blank.

That seems to be an issue with allowing more than 10 results per page.

Two pages (40 results) was more than enough for 30 results. The problem was the 3rd blank page which should not have had anything to do with the # of results/page.

The navigations button generator had a bug. It's now fixed.

I added a new button to the edit search dialog box. So you can click 'Edit' on your 'basic' search, make the changes, and then at the bottom instead of just 'Save it' now there is an additional button for 'Execute without saving'.

That's what you're asking for?

That works great.
Thanks.
