One thought I had after reading some of the "Lost Stories" and "Story Recommendations" threads was that it might be good if the original poster in a thread could lock it especially in those two sub-forums.
I don't know how difficult it might be to do that, and I can understand that it might be more trouble than it's worth to be implemented.

maybe some other users has something to say about it, even after the original question was answered. Or another user likes to get more of the same recommendations.
If you want a topic closed (as topic starter) you could always ask Lazeez to close it. Or simply post a message to the thread with the request and naming "Lazeez".
Often, I'll start a new topic, and if no one respond within 24 hours, I assume it's not a pressing topic and I'll remove it. But there are other times, when I start a discussion which goes off the rails almost immediately, where I'd really rather delete (or freeze) the entire thing before it becomes a race to the bottom. In those cases, I've sometimes deleted each of my posts, simply so they won't be fodder to the degenerating discussion. However, the only way to delete an entire discussion is—if you catch it early enough—you can ask the few respondents to delete their entries, which will then allow you, as the thread's creator, to delete the entire thread.

There's a difference in deleting a thread or locking it. I still think the best approach is to ask the webmaster who can decide between locking, deleting. or leaving it as is.

Sorry, I didn't fully explain, I was suggesting, based on my own behavior, why being able to lock a thread would be useful (once a outstanding request has been provided). However my example was poorly chosen, as I was removing unpopular threads, rather than freezing already popular ones. :(
