@MrWolf_UKI'm not sure if that would be practical for authors. I have editors send me a doc with suggested corrections. 95% I go with, but some I don't use since they change the sentiment of a statement or don't fit with what I am looking for.
I also end up in a back and forth with my editors a lot, as they look for clarification or point out possible plot problems or inconsistencies. Both of those require actual re-writing, which isn't what an editor does.
That might work for proofreading, but actual editing? Also, many authors put their works elsewhere as well, or complete their story before they start posting it up, which would be problematic with what you're talking about.
or at least, problematic for how I work.
