Bookapy Issues

H. Malcom Walker ๐Ÿšซ

My first book was published to Bookapy about 10 hours ago. I never got an email or message that it was published, but it's there. Possible issues I'm having, including some involving the SOL site:

Before anyone points it out, I did check that the book was "published" in the Account Manager. It says "Sales Status: Selling".

1. The book doesn't show up in any of the "recently published" sections of the home page.
2. Can't find the book with the Search function using either or both of the title words: "Catching Alice".
3. If I find Malcom Walker in the Author Index, it says I have 1 title published and lists Catching Alice as the "latest". I can click on the name of the book and go to the book's page. If I click on the author name "Malcom Walker" it goes to a page where it says "Malcom Walker has no books for sale."
4. Back on SOL, I can add a link the book's URL and it shows up at the end of the last chapter, including an image of the book cover. If I click on the link, it takes me to the book's page on Bookapy, but I get a popup warning message that says "Did you mean bookapy.com?" When I click "Yes, Continue" it leaves the book's page and goes to the main page at bookapy.com

Well, three minutes after I posted this, item numbers 1,2, and 4 are resolved.

Item 3 is still happening.

And a few minutes later they're all happening again. The home page changed then reverted. Very odd.

Go to bookapy by clicking the link on sol's homepage.

Thanks! That works but I do still get the popup warning on the main page.

So should I add the x into all the bookapy URLs I paste to advertise my book?

What warning?

Not on storiesonline.

Direct links with both domains work.

@Lazeez Jiddan (Webmaster)

I believe it's a Chrome popup warning about a lookalike site. It's probably related to the bookapy vs. bookapyx links.

I can't replicate it now since my Bookapy ad is now going to the Bookapyx site.

Did the URL for Bookapy change?

My bookmarked URL is "bookapy" but the SOL link is "bookapyx".

Lazeez Jiddan (Webmaster)

@Switch Blayde

Both work. But Bookapy doesn't show the adult stuff now.

What is the cut-off for Bookapy? Would e.g. Mario Puzo's The Godfather land on Bookapyx? Is Bookapy strictly PG-13 now? It would be helpful to post those rules somewhere.

I don't understand.

I use the URL without the "x" and when I go to my author's page it shows all my novels. All but one is adult.

All but one is adult.

Well, it seems that you've misclassified 3 of them. They're classified as erotica for ages 13 and older. They should be for 'older than 17'. I fixed them for you.

Didn't know that.

I really don't understand.

I click on one of my Bookapy ads at the end of an SOL story and it takes me to Bookapy with the x. But one of those novels (Last Kiss) is Young Adult with no sex.

Now if I go to Bookapy (without the x) and search on "Last Kiss", it's there. But if I do a search on my adult novel, it's also there.

I'm really confused.

Wouldn't it be better to have two completely different names?

Yes.

Asolutely.

@DBActive

After what I've seen, yes, but storiesonline's authors will think that their books have been deleted.

I'll consider the issue. I have a suitable, very different domain, that I can use.

I think that the way it is set up right now works best. We just have to embrace Bookapyx as mothership for all our stories, and Bookapy as sub-category for our decaf books.

It's now https://zbookstore.com

Final change.

And you're right, as SOL authors, just use zbookstore and forget about bookapy.

That's fine, for SOL readers, but with 1M+ active followers online, they'll think ALL of my books have been deleted. So, my only option, is to publicly list the new address (no html, just the name to search for). So, maybe we could put an additional link/message on the OLD Bookapy site, so at least MY most active followers will know what happened? As I'd really prefer not create any active links to the site.

@DBActive

I don't currently have anything publisher there, but as a SOL reader I like the similarity of the names. Once you realise the purpose, the rest seems obvious. As the Ford advert used to say, 'simple is efficient'.

Just tried the bookapyx link to link my book from SOL and it won't accept it.

Haven't updated storiesonline's software yet.

One at a time.

This may be related, but I'm not sure how things work yet. I made a blog post about half an hour ago to announce my first book being available on ZBookStore and included a link to it. It never showed up on the Home page stream, even though it had been 24 hours since my last chapter post was on the stream. Does the Home stream usually filter blog posts with outside URLs?

Lazeez Jiddan (Webmaster)

@H. Malcom Walker

Yes. I'll add the new url to the allowed list.

I'm just a reader but I like the idea of the larger name gap.

I'm old enough to remember back in the 90's that when you wanted to know about the USA government you would go to whitehouse.gov (please make note of the .GOV) because many a school kids and horror to parents and teachers back in the 90's if you typed in whitehouse.com it would take you to what if memory serves me well the second largest porn site at the time. Though I also remember a joke about how it was correct in that it truly showed how the government could Fuc..... well lets not get into politics ;)

Here is a link to I believe a pretty good article and history about this.

God! I remember that site. I remember showing it to a friend on my home computer, and within a week, he had been fired because his female boss caught him looking at pictures on his work computer.
