If she was really serious then she would consent to being ignored, left to search for edibles amongst the trash and drink from puddles, that would realistically mirror the conditions of lost dogs.
If she was really unlucky she would end up in a PETA 'sanctuary' where she would be. Or whatever the current euphemism for 'killed to save money' is these days.

PETA thinks domesticated animals in general and pets in particular shouldn't exist and should go extinct.
The only reason their kill rate isn't even higher is because of the negative publicity they get over it.

Agreed. However once you know which way their bias leans, you can tease out a few facts. Sites like Newsweek are not consistent in their bias which makes them useless to me.
Probably 80% of the Newsweek stories I've seen in the last year have been the bias that's normally associated with the Fox/OANN side of the spectrum (about halfway between those two, at a rough guess). It's easy to guess which way an average Newsweek story will be slanted, if there's a way to slant it politically. Occasionally you'll guess wrong, but that's true for most sources (Fox occasionally runs stories that are completely counter to its usual bias, for instance, as do the NYT or Washington Post).
Way back in the early 1980s most of us called it Newsweak. It hasn't really changed since then except to pick up more bias. That said, on a strictly factual basis (such as the quote above) they're probably around average and likely to be more or less correct.
They're within the constellation I'd call 'mainstream'. Anything on a major network or a wide-circulation magazine or newspaper counts, and they're in that area.
Maybe PETA shelters would get better adoptions if they didn't charge so much. In my area they want $150 to adopt a cat yet at the same time on every other street corner you can find a sign saying free kittens. But of course their high charges for adoptions do cover the cost for them to make their weekly spam calls, news papers fliers, and fliers in the local mail possible to ask for free money and food.
Another thing I like about PETA is how they will file complaints and protest about how a farm treats their livestock and yet still ask for money and food donations.
and to those who may wonder every complaint filed against my farm was either dismissed by the court or found to have no valid cause for complaint but it doesn't stop PETA from trying at least once every year. Of course it doesn't stop them from trying to stop deer/bear/ect... hunting season either every year.

I've started on a "Naked in School" story that has an alternative experimental program called Puppy Student Program - which just for fun, I added a "Abstinence only" rule that is attributed as a comprimise with those who disagree with the program and its goals.
I suppose on some level, that's the Pournelle Law Richard quoted which is that the secular organization is secretly controlled by its enemies.
It's really just the author playing with the idea that when you have these girls in impossibly horny situations with no relief, and no outlet, its fun to watch them squirm and eventually want cock so bad that they will do anything for it.
