Lost western

Neotragus 🚫

Sorry don't remember much. Man moves west, ends up in California. Mines gold from former river bed with the help of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints (aka Mormons). Travels to San Francisco to buy ships cargoes as they dock. Takes in several Indian tribes to protect them. For all I know I'm mixing several stories. Thanks for any help.
