coming of age school/college

sidiousclone ๐Ÿšซ

im looking for stories that deal with the main character through school to college and beyond

the story could be waking up back in younger self and taking a different path than previous

also could be making much more of themselves than before

sex is not a factor because there a very well written stories that have little sex as well as stories that have a fair amount.

hoping for some good picks if you read this post thankyou in advance

Ernest Bywater ๐Ÿšซ

a lot depends on how you define coming of age

@Ernest Bywater

I gave a rather lengthy reply to this earlier, which got lost in the bit bucket and I can't be bothered to do it all again. Here's the links to the many stories I linked to then. Some are what I consider Coming of Age due to how the character changes in the story, some just suit the age and location criteria you mention.

There is a list of do-over stories at http://do-over.wikifoundry.com/ -- many of them feature the elements you mentioned. I see you didn't read my blog entry from a couple of months back. The sequels are part written, but they're on a my computer which is currently with the police, along with my back-up copy, and my reserve back-up copy. I'll finish them when they let me have them back, along with about 30 other stories part written.

edit to add: I'm working on some new stories, but they always take a bit of time to research and sort out fully.

Yes. I've just update the blog entry with a lot more detail. You may read it there and save putting it here.

I expect I'll get most, if not all, of it back at some point. The question is: How long will it take to get it back?

They can't keep anything that doesn't have any hint of compromise under the law - and that's all but 1 item (edit to add: all but 1 item coming back). Even that is open to argument as to how much they can keep. However, the USB back-up of my stories will have to be returned at some point.

The other question is how much they intend to push things, and how hard, because if they push to hard I'll shove back. I'm a great believer of the saying, "May as well be hung for mutton as for lamb!" - in short, if they get to the Screw you, anyway, stage I'll be at the Fuck you too stage and we'll have a massive head-butting contest.

As much as they try, the Australian Government has less influence or control over the courts than they would like.

Much, much, much less.

EDIT- and that is the case with many of the statutory bodies as well.

Correct, and this is with the NSW State Government bodies.

Ernest Bywater ๐Ÿšซ

Oh, I doubt I can win such a contest, but I can cause enough havoc that the bureaucrats who start it end up as tramped on by the elephants as I do - I'd be going for a Pyrrhic Victory. And yes, they'll come back in a useable state or a huge payout.

can you not take them to court over this crap?here in the states we can sue the cops for abuse of power and harrasment we can also sue to have laws repealed or clarified if they are too fucked up,like the picture of a girl vs the real girl clothing thing.

Ernest Bywater ๐Ÿšซ

@redlion75

can you not take them to court over this crap?

There are some aspects I can take to court, but the magistrates will side with the cops in most cases. I do have a court request for getting it back.

@Ernest Bywater

In other words its one of those cases or charges where you are considered guilty automatically regardless of the evidence to start with. Child porn or molestation seems to always fall into those categories. I wonder how many times someone is charged but unable to afford to prove differently and lawyers do cost a huge amount of money.

Dominions Son ๐Ÿšซ

@redlion75

Technically, you can. Your chances of winning are only barely distinguishable from NIL.

Ask a lawyer about "Qualified Immunity."

You might get some money out of the PD or the City, but it is very rare for anyone to collect anything from an individual officer. Which means that they have no incentive to stop violating peoples rights.

redlion75 ๐Ÿšซ

here in the states we have 'pattern of misconduct' in cases where the p.d. and the lower courts have proven to be always in the wrong on certain things like yours.in those cases it goes to a hire court or at the least out of the local court.

Homonym police cite you for "hire court" unless you meant one that could be bought. If it can be bought, will it stay bought? That's the trouble with politicians, they can only be rented.

Its funny how they supposedly need the trust of the public in order to do their jobs. But never realize that trust has to be deserved. Its not something they can have just because they want it.

Would a hire court be something like "Judge Judy" which would be hired to hear the case in question?

redlion75 ๐Ÿšซ

so just start shooting them til the learn to be honest.

redlion75 ๐Ÿšซ

damn beer did not notice i spelt (spelled) it wrong.it was supposed to be higher like our supreme court.

richardshagrin ๐Ÿšซ

The progression that leads to superior and supreme (courts) starts with super at the base. However I have never heard of a super court. In the US federal system they are district courts.

Based on word usage, to beat Superman you need Superior man and to beat him, Supreme man. Its the same progression as good, better, best. Or bad, worse, worst. Which would make some kinds of sausage really really bad. The wurst.

@sidiousclone

You may want to check out Aroslav's "Living Next Door to Heaven" (https://storiesonline.net/s/76350/living-next-door-to-heaven) sequence. The first story, consisting of 116 chapters over five parts, is now complete and covers grades four through twelve. The second story is in progress, currently up to chapter 73, and is (so far) covering the college years.

Also, I second Grandad Rufus' suggestion of Lazlo Zalezac's "The Millionaire Next Door". Despite a number of spelling and grammar issues, especially in later chapters, that's one of the gems that keeps me reading sites like SOL.

You might also try "Once More With Feeling" by The Night Hawk.

It has a sequel, also: "A Fresh Start: Epilogue"

He's also the one writing "The Grim Reaper"

Very good writer. You'll like his work.

I would suggest you google
"doover site:storiesonline.net"
There will be several page numbers shown; go into any and from there you can link to page 1 which seem to be the most popular ones (and include many of those very rightly suggested above). I don't think you will go wrong there because most (?all) do over stories take people back to their / someone else's youth

Definitely most.

The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is Marsh Alien's A Stitch in Time, in which the protagonist was moved forward three years.

Qualifies as a "Time Travel", which occasionally gets lumped in with "Do Overs".
